Things are happening at Hire Canada's Job Fair which is on right now at the Mississauga Convention Centre.

It is said that university graduates are worst hit by the lack of jobs and struggle to find rewarding careers.  This is when you can turn to your alumni network for support and resources.  And sometimes, you just need a little nostalgia about college.

On Thursday, March 20, the Indian Alumni Society of the University of Toronto is hosting its first networking event of 2014. It's open to alumni of all universities!  Come catch up with old friends and meet new ones.  See details below.

Keeping up with the youth theme of this newsletter, we invite you to attend the Youth Dialogue Series on Sunday March 23, 2014 hosted by Sri Lankans without Borders.  This is a chance for young adults from different ethnic, cultural, and faith communities to connect with like-minded people from other communities, engage in facilitated dialogue and participate in leadership building activities.  See details below.

Experience networking at a global level by attending the 23rd Annual NetIP Conference which will be hosted this Labour Day Weekend (Aug 29 to September 1) in Atlanta! See details below and take advantage of early bird pricing!

See you next month when we will be back in your inbox!

RRSP Loan Strategy
RRSP Loan Strategy for Down Payment on Home

Outlined below is an overview of a strategy that combines both the RRSP loan and down payment for your home.

As an example, let us use a couple, David and Melrose, who wish to buy their first home sometime this summer in 2014, say in June or July taking advantage of the first time Home Buyer's Plan (HBP).

Both are working drawing average pay scales of say $47,000 each, which puts them in the 31.15% tax bracket in Ontario. Melrose has RRSPs worth $5,000 and David has RRSPs worth $4,000 for a total of $9,000, but between the two they still have contribution room worth $45,000.
