Infused with the rhythm and passion of Bollywood music and dance, Same Same But Different tells two intersecting stories that take you behind the scenes of Indian cinema. 

 

Written and performed by Anita Majumdar, best known for her one-person dance/drama Fish Eyes, and starring in Deepa Mehta's film adaptation of Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children, Majumdar is also a Dora Mavor Moore nominated choreographer with over 15 years of classical Indian dance training.

Nightwood Theatre presents 'Free Outgoing'

Nightwood Theatre kicks off its 2013/14 season with the North American premiere of the Royal Court hit, Free Outgoing by Anupama Chandraskhar at the Factory Theatre Mainspace from January 28 to February 16.

Circle of Bricks explores the vast versatility of the rhythmic elements in Kathak dance

 

Choreographer Rina Singha and guest director Danny Grossman, along with kathak dance artists Hemant and Vaishali Panwar, Reshmi Chetram, Shanta Chikarmane, Nisheeth Nirjhum Proshanti, Chad Walasek, Divya Gossai, Sharda Samaroo, Neetika Sharma, Farzana Aluddin and guest artist Eddie Kastrau engage the audience by contemporizing traditional stories and relating them to modern day life and experiences.

Movie Spotlight: Gunday

Gunday takes place during the most turbulent times in the history of Kolkata and Calcutta, from 1971 to 1988. The two main characters, Bikram and Bala, rose from being small time wagon breakers and coal thieves to becoming the biggest and most powerful mafia men.
 
As their notoriety became legendary, the people of the sprawling city takes notice and starts to call these two carefree rebels 'Gunday'.

Thousands join Panorama India's 65th Indian Republic Day in Toronto

This year's theme for India's 65th Republic Day was Indo-Canadian Unity in Diversity. It was hosted by Panorama India and took place Feb 2nd at the Pearson Convention Center.

The ceremonies began, with Jake Dheer introducing the guests to the audience and Toronto born Bollywood singer Natalie Di Luccio singing India & Canada national anthems, supported by Panorama India Idol contestant Shradha Ganesh.

Jibanjit Tripathy, Chairperson of Panorama India, welcomed dignitaries and remembered this remarkable day in the history of India completing India's transition to become an independent republic with a democratic governing system. Tripathy said, for Indo-Canadians it's an immense pride of a rich background and history of Indian Independence struggle, gaining freedom and then becoming largest democracy in the world.
