Shweta Jhaveri Live in Concert
 
Shweta Jhaveri   
Based in Ahmedabad, India and San Francisco, Shweta Jhaveri is a captivating vocalist renowned for her unique approach to Hindustani classical music.

Jhaveri will be accompanied by Sunny Matharu on tabla and Mohan Bhide on harmonium, with an opening set by the Vancouver based Neelamjit Dhillon Quartet playing excerpts from the Komagata Maru Project. With Neelamjit Dhillon (sax, tablas), Chris Gestrin (piano), André Lachance (bass), and Dan Gaucher (drums).

Shweta Jhaveri is a classical vocalist of Hindustani and world music. Specializing in the North Indian classical vocal forms Khayal, Tappa, Thumri, and Bhajans, and trained in the traditional Indian 'gharanas' apprenticeship system, Jhaveri began to study vocal music at age six. Studying under vocal teachers including Pt Vilas Khandekar and Sangeet Martand Pandit Jasraj in the 1970s-1990s, Jhaveri has since performed across India, Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East. Her voice was featured in the 1998 film Dance of the Wind.

The Beyond the Bag Eco-Fashion Showcase, hosted by Banner Bags, is held to support a young generation of aspiring fashion designers. They are given the chance to show off their upcycled garments - created from banners -to a large audience and a panel of experienced judges from companies including Arcteryx and Eco Fashion Week! The top three designs will win scholarships and an internship opportunity with a Vancouver business.

Come and see who is named the Top High School Fashion Designer of the Year!

A three course dinner is included!

Mohit Chauhan with Mamta Sharma | Live in Concert 
 
Mohit Chauhan   
Mohit Chauhan & Mamta Sharma will be at Vancouver's Orpheum Theatre!

Mohit Chauhan is a playback singer for Bollywood movies as well as the former front-man of the Indipop band Silk Route. He is a two-time recipient of the Filmfare award for Best Male Playback Singer as well as several other awards.

Mohit Chauhan's hits include, "Sada Haq" for Rockstar, "Pee Loun" for Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. His most famous songs include, "Khoon Chala" for Rang De Basanti, "Masakali" for Dehli-6 and "Tum Se Hi" for Jab We Met.

Mamta Shara's hit songs include, "Muni Badnaam Hui" for Dabangg and "Kevvu Keka" in the Telugu remake of Dabangg.

Architecture, Globalisation and the Imagination of the Other examined in Follow Suit, a new exhibition at Centre A.

Featuring photography by Kotama Bouabane and a video installation by Henry Tsang, this exhibition facilitates consideration of the latent implications and effects of late 20th century acts of architectural replication in Beijing on cultural development and mutual understanding between China and the West.
