Editorial Hello, MyBindi fans on the West Coast!
Greetings from NYC.   Like they say, Carpe Diem or Seize the Moment.  In this case, I found an excellent fare thanks to Nanak Flights and so I seized it! They promise the lowest airfares in Canada and worldwide.  Check them out here and plan your next getaway!
If I wasn't in NYC, I'd be in beautiful British Columbia to support the 5th Annual "A Night of Miracles" Gala, this Sunday, celebrating South Asian culture and philanthropy for BC Children's Hospital.
There's a lot going on in BC this month from art exhibits, bollywood concerts and even a Diwali ball.  This is also the month when Vancouver plays host to the International South Asian Film Festival!  See details below.

As always, if there's an event or an initiative in Vancouver that you'd like us to promote on MyBindi West - please send me an email.

Best Regards,

Hajra Waheed | Minutes from a Second Story at Centre A
Minutes from a Second Story

Centre A is delighted to present "Minutes from a Second Story", a solo exhibition by Montreal-based artist Hajra Waheed.

Waheed grew up in Saudi Arabia, within the gated headquarters of Saudi ARAMCO - an environment with strict restrictions on the use of photography and film, leaving limited documentation of this place and its history.

"Minutes from a Second Story" is a comprehensive body of work that includes video and mixed media works on paper that reflect upon Waheed's experiences of growing up in the Gulf region. Recollecting the memories and geographies of her childhood in ways that are part autobiographical, part imagined or partially remembered, Waheed reflects on the mood and experiences of the everyday.

When: On NOW until November 2, 2013
Where: Centre A | Vancouver
Time: 7pm
Tickets: the exhibit is FREE to the public

Tribute to Kishore Kumar at River Rock!
Do Kishore MBW
Kamal's Video Palace presents a tribute to India's greatest entertainer Kishore Kumar, by his sons Amit & Sumeet Kumar, for an evening of fun, music and dancing!

Actor, Director and Music Director, Amit Kumar is the son of legendary Indian singer Kishore Kumar. Like his father, Amit loved singing from childhood. He has sung many Bollywood and regional film songs since the 1970s and was more actively singing in Indian films from 1970 to 1994. Nominated by Filmfare for such classic songs as "Yeh Zameen Gaa Rahi Hai", "Ek Do Teen", "Tirchhi Topiwale" and "Kaisa Lagta Hai" and winning the Filmfare in 1981 for "Yaad Aa Rahi Hai" from the film "Love Story", there is no wonder why, Amit Kumar was known to be the second most preferred male playback singer in Hindi films with his father Kishore Kumar being the first choice to sing.

Don't miss Amit Kumar along with his younger brother Sumeet Kumar as they bring Kishore Kumar's classic songs to life for one night only at the River Rock Casino Resort.

Salimah My Body My Temple

I answered the phone one morning last December. The voice on the other side said, "Can you help me please angel? I'm dying and I know nothing at all about filling out paperwork for that."

There was something about his voice that was loving and sincere and calm. He had the voice of a teacher, a friend, someone you would miss when they were gone. Over the next 9 months John and I had a number of phone calls. After each conversation, I would sit for moment and reflect.
