2013 South Asian Comedy Showcase

Two years in Toronto and two sold out shows! Now in its 3rd year, The South Asian Comedy Showcase is making its way to the nations capital! North America's HOTTEST South Asian stand up comedians will take the stage in Ottawa in the ELECTRIC Byward Market area!
Paul Varghese (NBC's Last Comic Standing, Just For Laughs, and Showtime's Russell Peters' Presents) is your headliner!

Anikai Dance presents the Canadian premiere of The Knocking Within | 
ANIKAI Dance Company comes to Montréal for the first time to present The Knocking Within. Just coming off a tour in India, where the show played to standing-room only audiences and received rave reviews, The Knocking Within will be at the MAI, as part of the Montreal Fringe Festival. The Knocking Within is created by performers Wendy Jehlen and Pradhuman Nayak. Inspired by research into the neuroscience of sleep and the anthropology of dreams, The Knocking Within weaves a portrait of two lovers and the nightmares that plague them, unveiling the violence that lies just beneath the surface.
The Knocking Within draws on texts from Shakespeare's tragedies and sonnets performed in English, Hindi and American Sign Language. When: June 15 - 23, 2013

Celebrate Canada Day on Parliament Hill - July 1 |
Ottawa, Canada's Capital, is the place to be July 1 for the country's biggest annual birthday celebration. It's a giant patriotic party on the lawns of Parliament Hill, Major's Hill Park, Jacques Cartier Park and on the closed streets of downtown Ottawa.
The crowds start to gather on Parliament Hill early, for a 9 a.m. carillon concert featuring the Peace Tower bells, followed by the official flag raising and the Changing the Guard ceremony.
The evening show on Parliament Hill this year features a stellar lineup of Canadian performers, including Simple Plan, Feist, Roch Voisine, Jully Black, Marie Mai, Misstress Barbara and more.

Kandahar :: The Fighting Season |
From 2005 to 2011, Canadian soldiers were deployed to Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. There they engaged in heavy combat with insurgents as part of an international effort to support the government of Afghanistan.
Award-winning Canadian photographer Louie Palu accompanied soldiers in the most dangerous districts of Kandahar. He captured their world of firefights and exhausting patrols in an unforgiving landscape.
