Motherhood full of contradiction: Nandita DasTerming motherhood as a "contradiction" of life, actor-director Nandita Das said the happy stereotypical perception about motherhood is very different in reality. Das was speaking at a book launch of an anthology "Of Mother and Other" at the Indian International Centre here.
"When I was pregnant, no one told me how many difficulties one actually has to face. Everybody is happy and they congratulate you, but nobody shares the issues of motherhood," the actor said.
"The whole journey of motherhood is full of contradictions," she added. Stating that having a child is a matter of personal choice, the award-winning actress said that being a mother has completely changed her life. Click HERE to learn more.
Cinema and sports, the two abiding loves of Indians all over, are intersecting as never before. If sports stars are turning actors and producers and providing creative fodder for Bollywood filmmakers, tinsel town is also doing its bit by pumping in money and providing glitz to various sports leagues.
It's a unique, symbiotic relationship and it's getting stronger.
Bollywood films on London Olympics bronze medalist M.C. Mary Kom and 'Flying Sikh' Milkha Singh are already in the pipeline, while actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty are doing their bit in promoting various sports.
Kristen called on Sunday with an interesting
job opportunity. On the upside, flexibility to set her own hours and an environment which reflected her values about health and wellness. The proposed salary package would allow her to work three days a week and earn as if she was working full time. In order to pursue this experience she had to make two decisions. The first, a commitment to applying for her practitioner's license and the other, deciding if the 90 min commute was going to work for her family. She has to think differently in order to make a decision. In the process of evaluating priorities our lives change. Clarity is a gift and sets the stage for further transformation.
Just as a seed needs light, water and soil to grow, our ideas, goals and dreams need energy and nurturing.
Hello readers! This week's blog is short and sweet - I wanted to share with you an article I recently read that really affected me. I mean, I know the food industry spends millions on the science behind flavour and making us want more of the processed goodies they manufacture...but to the extent it is actually happening - I had no idea. Please read this article - it will really make you think about processed foods and why we love them so. Its not our fault. Its their business to make us addicts.
From March 28 through May 30, Small World Music Society proudly presents eight events embracing the scope of music, new and old, from across the Asian cultural landscape. Mira Nair's much-awaited global thriller, 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' starring Riz Ahmed, Kate Hudson, Kiefer Sutherland, Liev Schreiber, Om Puri, and Shabana Azmireleases in theaters on April 26. The brand new trailer and poster have premiered for this eagerly anticipated motion picture event which is based on the best-selling novel by Mohsin Hamid. 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' was the opening night selection at the prestigious Venice Film Festival and will now hit theaters nationwide this spring. The story begins in 2011 in Lahore. At an outdoor café a Pakistaniman named Changez (Riz Ahmed) tells Bobby (Liev Schreiber), an American journalist, about his experiences in the United States. Roll back ten years, and we find a younger Changez fresh from Princeton, seeking fortune and glory on Wall Street. The American Dream seems well within his grasp, complete with a smart and gorgeous artist girlfriend, Erica (Kate Hudson). But when the Twin Towers are attacked, a cultural divide slowly begins to crack open between Changez and Erica. Changez's dream soon begins to slip into nightmare: profiled, wrongfully arrested, strip-searched and interrogated, he is transformed from a well-educated, upwardly mobile businessman to a scapegoat and perceived enemy.
