Islamic Relief presents Maher Zain: Songs for Hope |
The internationally acclaimed singer, Maher Zain partners with Islamic Relief to bring his "Songs of Hope" Tour 2013 to 10 cities in Canada and raise funds for orphans and children in need living in some of the most vulnerable communities across the globe. Joining him will be comedian, Omar Regan in Ottawa.
Last year Maher helped Islamic Relief raise nearly $500,000 for their safe village projects across the globe. Muslim Link's 10th Anniversary Celebration | 
Muslim Link, Ottawa's Muslim Community Newspaper, is celebrating its 10th Anniversary and you are invited!
This will be a time to reflect on what Muslim Link has accomplished over the last 10 years and what the paper needs to do to ensure that it continues to reflect the diversity of Ottawa's Muslim community.
This will be an interactive discussion session which will include a thought-provoking inter-generational dialogue exploring the role that Muslim Link has and could continue to better play in increasing understanding across the generational, ethno-cultural, socio-economic, and religious differences within Ottawa's Muslim community.
Muslim Link will also be screening the premiere of their video series profiling local Muslim Spoken Word Artists by Ottawa-based documentary filmmaker Atiya Hussain.
Muslim Link's 2013-2014 Business & Services Pages will also be launched at this event.

Kandahar :: The Fighting Season |
From 2005 to 2011, Canadian soldiers were deployed to Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. There they engaged in heavy combat with insurgents as part of an international effort to support the government of Afghanistan.
Award-winning Canadian photographer Louie Palu accompanied soldiers in the most dangerous districts of Kandahar. He captured their world of firefights and exhausting patrols in an unforgiving landscape.
