Editorial

It's already February and hopefully we've seen the worst of this winter! My first year in Canada was 1998 and for those who can remember that far back my first winter was the great snow storm of 1998. My reaction then was a combination of awe and despair!  Years later, nothing has changed! :)  This past week's snow storms still brought feelings of anxiety and frustration coupled with a sense of magic and wonder.

Did you get a chance to do something special with your family during the snow storm? Build a snowman? Do some sledding or tobogganing with the kids? Maybe even have some fun shovelling the driveway?  Post your photos on our facebook page and we'll give the best stories/photos two complimentary tickets to enjoy Disney on Ice!!  How "cool" is that? :)

I find that the best way to get kids to love winter is to get them involved with a winter sport.  My daughter Imaan has been skiing since she was 5 and each year she waits for snow! She's 16 now and will soon be getting her Ski Instructor Certification!

Perhaps your kids like to skate?  How about hockey?  If you complete this survey and share your views on hockey (even if you don't like it, we want to know why and if you love it, we want to know that too), you can be entered into a draw to win an iPad!

NewBindian is proud to be allianced with the Mississauga Hockey League to help them reach South Asian families and understand our views and needs when it comes to hockey!  Please do share your views and complete this survey.  It really only takes a few minutes.

Lastly, we want to help you achieve your dreams and your goals so we have partnered with the Potentialists and are offering two FREE spots to their first Dream Circle event of 2013.  It's this Tuesday (Feb 12).  See details below. If you would like a FREE spot, simply share a definite goal on our facebook page and tell us you'd like to attend the Dream Circle and you will be entered into our draw. Winners will be announced by 2 pm tomorrow!

If you'd like to feature your event or organization, or share a valuable resource for newcomers, feel free to contact us at team@mybindi.com. We'd love to hear from you. :)

Best regards,

Today, I spoke to a woman who said that she doesn't want to reach out for help because if her husband found out that she contacted Social Services, it may jeopardize their chances of working out their rocky marriage.  In a country abound with laws and services to support women in difficult situations; I am always disappointed but, not surprised when I hear such comments.
