There's Still Time for the Conservation Tax Incentive . . .
If you haven't already, there is still time to reach out to thank and reinforce Senator Charles Schumer for championing the Conservation Easement Inceitive Act (S.330) and encourage Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to do the same. Congress could be on the verge of passing legislation that would help charitable organizations do more in their communities . . . including the conservation easement incentive. Each year, Congress has extended the incentive, but only at the last minute. The America Gives More Act would make this incentive permanent -- providing crucial tax incentives to help farmers, ranchers and middle-income landowners conserve land. The Conservation Easement Incentive Act is truly a bi-partisan bill, with over 50 Senators -- Democrats, Republicans and Independents -- having already signed on to the bill that was overwhelmingly passed by the House of Representatives earlier this year. Please contact your Senators and urge them to get a permanent conservation easement tax incentive across the finish line this year! Learn more . . . |

2016 Volunteer Orientation
will be on Saturday, April 16!
|
Volunteers make a huge difference at the Peconic Land Trust.
Join us for our annual gathering of volunteers -- this is a perfect opportunity for both returning and new volunteers to learn more about the Trust's work and the broad array of activities at which to lend a hand . . . from getting your hands in the soil at one of our stewardship centers (Quail Hill Farm, Bridge Gardens and the Ag Center), to being our eyes and ears at a nearby Preserve, to helping at Connections programs or Special Events, to joining one of our Committees and lending your expertise to our work. There are so many ways to get involved!
Our orientation will be held simultaneously at two locations, from 10 am to noon:
- On the South Fork: Bridge Gardens, 36 Mitchell Lane, Bridgehampton
- On the North Fork: Stewardship Center, 22600 Main Road, Cutchogue
