Thank You! We Couldn't Conserve
Long Island's Working Farms and Natural Lands
Without You!
For over 30 years, your support has enabled staff and board of the Peconic Land Trust to conserve what we know and love, including . . .
- the Working Farms that provide us with fresh local produce and so much more
- the Natural Lands that protect our water, habitats, trails and vistas
- the Historical Resources that define our history and preserve our Heritage for future generations
We thank you sincerely for your trust in us, and look forward to working with you this year and into the future to protect this unique part of the world.
If you haven't had a chance, take a moment to look back and celebrate all we've accomplished together in 2014. We look forward to seeing you this year!

Conservation News
Weigley Family Conserves 4+ Acres
of Farmland in Wainscott
In December, Jane and James Weigley conserved 4.2 acres of productive agricultural land in Wainscott through the sale of development restrictions to the Trust and the Town of East Hampton.
The Trust worked with Wainscott residents and the Weigleys to spearhead a successful Community Fundraising Campaign, which raised over $2.6 million from nearly 100 families. The funds raised bridged the gap between the Town's contribution of about $4.4 million (through the Town's Community Preservation Fund proceeds) and the $7 million purchase price.
The Weigley farmland is the Trust's third successful community conservation project in Wainscott, which has resulted in the protection of over 25 acres, including farmland conserved by the Babinski and Conklin families in 2006, as well as an historic façade easement on the Conklin Farmstead on an 18th century house and barn on the hamlet's Main Street.
Thank you to the Weigley, Babinski, and Conklin families, and the many conservation-minded members of the Wainscott community who generously contributed to the protection of these three iconic properties, as well as the Town of East Hampton for partnering with us on these efforts . . . together, we have preserved farmland that is both productive and bucolic extending nearly to the ocean!

Thank you to the Halsey Family of the
Milk Pail Fresh Market
for their generous support in December!
To honor the spirit of generosity and giving that characterizes the holiday season, the Halsey family (Amy, Jennifer, Evelyn, and John L.) and their staff promoted the work of the Trust throughout the month of December, collecting donations from their customers and selling our market bags and note cards. At the end of the month, we were thrilled to receive a percentage of all sales of the market's delicious apples, cider, baked goods, beautiful floral arrangements, and more!
We couldn't be more thankful for our friends at the Milk Pail Fresh Market!
