A Note About Bulbs from Rick...
Have you planted your spring flowering bulbs yet? There's still time! Bulbs can usually be planted up until Thanksgiving, although a more temperate autumn season can find us in the gardens planting into December! Daffodils are a great choice, as they are deer- and vole-resistant, tend to return year after year, and with several varieties in the ground, you're assured of having a cheery show from early April well into May.
If you already have plenty of daffodils, consider summer snowflake (Leucojum aestivum), which blooms in May and June and does well in the shade of a woodland garden. Also, any of the alliums or flowering onions create garden interest -- and like with daffodils, several varieties will provide a long-lasting display from May into June.
