Thank You for Your Support! Southampton Town Board Votes in Favor of Partnership with Peconic Land Trust to Purchase 33 Acres of Farmland from the Estate of Charlotte Danilevsky
Thank you to everyone who contacted the Town Board in support of the acquisition as well as those who attended the public hearing on May 27th! Your voices were heard on this important and historic farmland conservation partnership, which will ensure that the protected farmland will remain in agricultural production.

All of us at the Peconic Land Trust extend our gratitude to the Southampton Town Board for their vision and expeditious action on this purchase of development rights (PDR) on the Danilevsky property. Through additional restrictions, the Town's PDR will ensure that this farmland is accessible to food production farmers at its true agricultural value in the future.
We would also like to extend our special thanks to you, our partners in conservation, for lending your voices on this important conservation project -- you spoke eloquently at the public hearing and through emails in support of the Danilevsky conservation initiative. THANK YOU!
We are moving forward to complete the acquisition and look forward to sharing more good news on this project and future farmland conservation initiatives in the coming weeks and months.
Peconic Land Trust Receives the Social Impact Award
at the Long Island Imagine Awards Gala:
Trust Recognized for its
"Farms for the Future Initiative."
In early May, staff and board of the Trust attended the Long Island Imagine Awards Gala, which recognizes innovation and leadership in the Nonprofit sector. This is the 2nd year for the awards -- over 100 nonprofits submitted applications and the Trust was fortunate to have been a finalist in two categories, Social Impact for our Farms for the Future Initiative and Leadership Excellence for our President and founder John v.H. Halsey.
Peconic Land Trust's Farms for the Future Initiative was awarded the Social Impact Award for our work in making farmland accessible to farmers. Dan Heston, North Fork Stewardship Manager, accepted the award on behalf of the Trust.
The Long Island Imagine Awards has been the vision of event Chair Ken Cerini, Cerini & Associates, LLP, for over 10 years. "The Long Island business community now has a mechanism to recognize the good work of the nonprofit sector and reward them for their innovation, leadership and sustainability," said Cerini.
Thank you to the Imagine Awards committee for your recognition of the Trust's work to conserve Long Island's working farms, natural lands and heritage.
Congratulations to all the finalists and winners -- it was an incredible evening, hearing the stories of the diverse group of nonprofits and all the wonderful work that is taking place on Long Island!
