October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month
|
|
MONTH/YEAR
Among the many programs and services offered through Compass Center, we are proud to serve as Orange County's primary organization offering domestic violence services. Of the 6,000 clients we served last year, 1,168 were victims of domestic violence. We're also focused on prevention. Our relationship with Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools helped us educate nearly 3,000 students about bullying and safe relationships. Thank you for supporting this important work.
Compass Center stands together with several area partner organizations to offer a variety of events creating awareness and offering community education about domestic violence. Check the calendar below and join us:
Continuous Events:
- ALL MONTH: City Kitchen is featuring a specialty cocktail during October, benefitting Compass Center.
- ALL DAY (10/21): The Yogurt Pump is offering 10% of sales to Compass Center on Wednesday, October 21.

Compass Center is proud to announce the release of, A War Against the Mirror: Reflections on Domestic Violence. This book offers a collection of art, representing a variety of work done by clients in Compass Center support groups, including the Survivor Led Writing Group. The project was generously funded by the Orange County Arts Commission. Thanks to this funding and to Wild Musette Publishing, we are able to share this work with the greater community. Copies can be obtained at our office and e-books will be available soon.
