Did You Know?
The prime motivator for attorneys who have done pro bono is the combined sense of professional duty and personal satisfaction derived from the work. Compass Center works with a core group of attorneys that offer their time pro bono for 15-minute legal information appointments. For more information on our legal services, click here.

Compass Center Recognized as 2015 Nonprofit
of the Year at Business Excellence Awards
Laura Morrison, Vice Chair; Ardith Burkes, Interim Executive Director; Mary Parry, Development Director
On May 28th, Compass Center was named 2015 Nonprofit of the Year! Thank you to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce and Triangle Community Foundation for recognizing us with this honor.

Thank you to our many partners and supporters for enabling us to continue growing our impact in this community. We have an amazing team of staff, interns and volunteers who work hard to help Compass Center deliver quality services. All services are now being provided from one central location at 210 Henderson St in Chapel Hill. Visit our website or stop by and see us for more information about accessing programs, becoming a volunteer, or supporting the organization in other ways. And stay tuned for more information about an exciting new collaborative partnership we are embarking on through our financial education and career counseling programs.

We also want to recognize the other finalists for the award: TABLE and The Walking Classroom Institute. Thank you for what you do to meet the needs of our community.
Local Girl Scout Troop Attends Healthy Relationship Workshop
In April, Start Strong intern, Elizabeth Sager, offered a workshop on Healthy Romantic Relationships for 7 members of a local Girl Scout troop. The troop was interested in conducting a community service project to help educate their community about the things they learned in the workshop. Elizabeth helped facilitate their discussion on a potential community service project and they settled on a blog. Check it out here!
