Domestic Violence Task Force Works to Improve Services for Victims in Orange County

Kati Hajjar
Over the past year and a half, the Orange County Domestic Violence Task Force has been meeting routinely to develop a coordinated community response to domestic violence issues locally. Having teams to work on system improvement to best meet the needs of victims and increase public awareness is a best practice for communities. Our multi-disciplinary team is comprised of service providers representing law enforcement, crisis units, legal services, district attorney's office, social services, medical services, schools, batterer's intervention programs and other agencies.

The current work of the task force is conducting service provider assessments to gain a clear picture on services available, policies and procedures and identify strengths in existing responses to domestic violence. The analysis of this information will assist the task force in determining and prioritizing goals for our future work.

In 2014, Compass Center served 1103 victims of domestic violence and the demand for services continues to increase. The work of the domestic violence task force is integral to quality victim service delivery in Orange County, as it ensures that we are meeting the needs of clients as best we can. We appreciate the dedication of our task force members and their enthusiastic involvement.

If you'd like to learn more about the domestic violence task force or you represent an agency who serves victims and would like to complete our assessment, please email me or call 919-968-4610.

Sincerely,

Kati Hajjar
