With good food and drinks, great company and amazing art work, it was hard not to have a great time at our 31st annual Through Women's Eyes, By Women's Hands art exhibition and sale. More than 300 guests gathered as we celebrated 102 emerging and established North Carolina women artists, by displaying diverse works ranging from 5 x 7 canvases and larger auction pieces to hand-crafted pottery and jewelry. The Ken Broun Jazz Group and DJ Fifi Hi-Fi provided entertainment for the evening. We honored our presenting sponsor DWM Advisors, LLC with The Joseph P. Davis Award for Corporate Sponsorship to recognize the company's $100,000 financial commitment as a sponsor for more than a decade. Zach Ward, of DSI Comedy, rounded out the night with a fun-filled live auction featuring pieces by Kristen Dill, Frank Penta, Carol Retsch-Bogart and Barbara Tyroler.
Thanks to the support of our artists, corporate sponsors, media sponsors, board members, committee members, volunteers and attendees, we raised more than $50,000 to support our programs and services.

Compass Center Attends Innovations in Domestic and Sexual Violence Research and Practice Conference
|
|
The Innovations conference, hosted by UNC Greensboro, sought to promote innovative approaches to building relationships among community partners, as well as promote innovative approaches to intersectionality, cross-culturalism and anti-oppression. The conference featured updates from North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCCADV) and North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NCCASA), as well as several talks from innovative community organizers. Compass Center staff attended presentations related to criminal justice responses to domestic violence and sexual assault, judicial decision making regarding domestic violence protective orders, and the effects of violence on pregnancy, mothering and sexual health.
Compass Center extends a huge thank you to UNCG, NCCADV and NCCASA for sponsoring this conference!
