Food, Music and Fun! You're invited. Join Compass Center for the 31st annual Through Women's Eyes, By Women's Hands Art Exhibition and Sale on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Top of the Hill's Great Room! Again this year, we will feature anonymous mini-masterpieces, pottery and jewelry from more than 60 North Carolina women artists.

VITA Has Kicked Off!

Tax season is here! Compass Center is once again offering FREE Volunteer Income Tax Assistance for low to moderate income individuals and families. Volunteer preparers are trained and certified by the IRS. Appointments will be offered each Monday, February 2 - April 13 at the Chapel Hill Public Library. (Please note this change!) Welcome Mary Parry!

Mary Parry has joined staff as our new Development Director! Working as an advocate for women and families in North Carolina since 2004, she served for several years as a Women's Center board member and Art Show event chair before the agency merger. Through her decade of involvement with Triangle-area schools and nonprofit organizations, Mary brings a broad range of fundraising and communication skills to the Center. Most recently, she served as the director of advocacy for a statewide organization focused on providing information about women's issues in North Carolina. Welcome Mary!

We have an urgent need for Spanish-speaking Court Advocates. On Thursdays, Volunteer Court Advocates provide advocacy and emotional support to victims of domestic violence attending civil and/or criminal domestic violence court. Volunteer Court Advocates must complete our 42-hour domestic violence advocacy training with additional training hours within the courtroom setting.

Family Law Workshops

Join Compass Center for our series of monthly legal education workshops. Topics will include but are not limited to: separation, divorce, spousal support, property distribution, child support and child custody, and domestic violence and the law. All workshops are held from 6 - 7:30 p.m. with registration sign-in at 5:45 p.m. Workshops will be presented by licensed attorneys, John Miskey and Sarah Carr D'Amato.
