Report from ITEAC and ABTT

The 2014 International Theatre Engineering and Architecture Conference (ITEAC) took place in London on June 8, 9 & 10.   Over 120 speakers, including yours truly, spoke on a wide range of topics and projects.  One of the highlights of the 3-day event was the keynote address given by Dara O Briain, a very funny and articulate UK comedian.  He focused our attention on the needs of the performer trying to engage and draw in an audience.  The conference was very rewarding and definitely worth braving an uncharacteristically hot and humid London.

Hot on ITEAC's heels (literally and figuratively) came the 36th annual Association of British Theatre Technicians (ABTT) Theatre Show.  This is a trade show with seminars and workshops for the live performance industry in the UK. This year the show took place in The Old Truman Brewery  in East London.  If you were looking to find the latest piece of equipment or meet up with the people who make theatre happen in the UK, this show was definitely the place to be.
