Amos! Let Justice Roll Down Like Waters!

Dear Bible Challenge participants,

We've sped through Joel and his theological take on the plague of locusts, and now find ourselves in Amos.

Amos was a contemporary of Hosea, an eighth century prophet. Some have said that his writing is a bit like a summary of all the other prophets. His concerns are primarily about social justice (or injustice!) and the spiritual danger about being all about form, and neglecting content, , getting the rituals right, when the soul is rotten with unjust living.

Like many prophets, Amos got crosswise with the religious insiders and leadership of Israel, but that seems to have made him more determined than ever to share the word given him by God.

Forward Movement and VTS have published the Amos version of their useful booklets here.

As ever, thank you for being on this journey!

Peace,

Paige+
