  One Record But Not Another
Over 5,400 nudists simultaneously skinny-dipped on July 11 at more than 80 AANR-affiliated clubs and nude beaches across North America. While AANR did not break its previous record, which has yet to be broken, it did break the record for a FUN time and a whole lot of wonderful publicity.

According to Mary Jane Kolassa at Above Water Public Relations & Marketing, AANR's PR representative, specific to the Skinny-Dip in June and July there were roughly 50 articles, television and radio news items that appeared. The estimated print circulation for the print articles was 15 million. In addition, each print and broadcast outlet has an online site where the articles also ran. The estimated visitors per month for the combined websites was in the neighborhood of 250 million.

And that is exactly what this event was all about -- to let the rest of the world know just how much FUN can be had while wearing nothing at all.

  We Have A Winner!

Tom Price from North Carolina is the winner in our Skinny-Dip t-shirt contest. Tom had the closest guess to the final Skinny-Dipping Again! count.

Upon hearing about his win, Tom wrote via email, " Thanks to AANR for organizing this event and for sponsoring the contest."

Thank you, Tom, and thanks to all who entered the contest and participated in the 2015 Skinny-Dip.
Women--And Men-- Protest For Topfree Equality
Parades in at least 60 cities around the world took place last Sunday for Go Topless Day. Men and women paraded through the streets of their cities amid a well-publicized debate over New York Mayor Bill de Blasio's efforts to remove topless body-painted women, or desnudas, from Times Square, whom he calls nuisances even though going topfree is legal in New York.

The 1992 New York Court of Appeals ruling established women's right to go topless for noncommercial reasons. The 1992 case concerned a group of seven women in Rochester, New York, known as the Topfree Seven, who were arrested in 1986 for holding a topfree picnic to protest the state law that prohibited women, but not men, from baring their chests. Desnuda opponents argue that their activities are illegal because they solicit tips posing for pictures with tourists while topless.

Despite the issues going on in New York, the parades have been going on a lot longer. For the last seven years the gatherings have been held via the Free the Nipple campaign.

Government Affairs Update
By Tim Mullins, AANR Government Affairs Chair

The annual convention is over and AANR is moving into the end of summer activities and winding down for the fall and winter.

For the regions it means elections are over and new team members are introduced to our efforts. For the Government Affairs Team it means we assess what went well in our efforts to keep the fun in nude recreation.

Government affairs is like an endurance race. It isn't very often you can say, 'we won', and know that it is in fact a done deal. As long as someone finds nudity objectionable there will be a politician who will introduce a lame excuse of a law to try and stop someone from being nude somewhere. This past year we saw many examples, and in most cases all we could do was halt the progress of the bill. Next year the next round of ill-conceived laws will be presented.

Our challenge each year is to stop bills detrimental to our desires from becoming law. We do this by being diligent in our efforts to find out about the bills early and move to stop them.
