Love Your Body Day 2014

What do you see when you look in the mirror? Statistics show that 80% of women are dissatisfied with their bodies, partly due to media representation of what "the perfect woman" should look like.

The NOW Foundation has been fighting back with a body acceptance campaign called Love Your Body Day, to be celebrated this year on October 14. The campaign is something we as nudists can support, as body acceptance is a hallmark of the nudist lifestyle for both women and men.

So, on October 14, and year-round, love and accept your body, and spread the word that nudism equals body acceptance.

Fox Reports on Brown University Nudity Week...

Brown University held its second annual nude week the beginning of October.

Called "Nudity in the Upspace," the week-long series is hosted by the campus' student-run theater, Production Workshop.

Each evening, the group puts on a series of events from nude yoga to nude cabaret, all designed to celebrate nudity and confront the stigmas attached to naked bodies in a safe space.

Jesse Watters of Fox News visited Brown to interview students for an episode of Watters' World on The O'Reilly Factor. Prior to the event, Watters tweeted @jessebwatters--Breaking: "Nudity week" at Brown University still on despite government shutdown...#wattersworld monitoring situation

On the Fox website, Watters posted "Nude body painting, nude yoga, nude theatre... funded by student activity fees! What's the educational value?"

...And Brown Students Respond

Students at Brown University were upset about "exploitative" reporting by Fox News correspondent Jesse Watters when he visited to interview them about the week-long "Nudity in the Upspace" event.

One student said in a video that during her interview with Watters, she was asked how much tuition was, whether she'd use drugs and how her parents feel about her being a part of the nudity event.  Students called Watters' questions "misogynistic," "inappropriate," and "predatory."

"They're not telling them the mission behind 'Nudity in the Upspace' ... they're just taking it out of context and focusing on the fact that we're college kids and we're getting naked," Michael Gabrielle, another Brown student, told the Huffington Post. "We're not at a frat party getting naked, this is an intellectual [event]."
