The NOW Foundation celebrates Love Your Body Day on October 16. For 15 years, the Love Your Body campaign has educated the public about harmful stereotypes in the media for women and girls, resulting in the awareness that leads to body acceptance, helping move beyond unrealistic standards of body and beauty.

 

According to the NOW website, "We must encourage women and men, girls and boys to think critically about the images they see every day instead of passively accepting them. Hollywood and the fashion, cosmetics and diet industries work hard to make us believe that our bodies are unacceptable and need constant improvement. Advertisements reduce us to body parts -- lips, legs, breasts -- airbrushed and touched up to meet impossible standards. The media tells women and girls that cosmetic surgery is good for self-esteem. Is it any wonder that 80% of U.S. women are dissatisfied with their appearance?"

Help South Florida Free Beaches (SFFB) beat the current official Guinness record of 413 skinny-dippers at a single venue held by the South Wales Midsummer Skinny Dip in the UK. On-site registration and verification of participants, as required by Guinness World Record™ protocols, will take place on the beach from 10a.m. to 2p.m., Sunday, November 3, the day of the event. Please register early to avoid delays.

 

Skinny-dip participants are asked to make a donation
(suggested $5 per person) at registration to the
Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVAF)- Florida chapter.
PVAF representatives will be present.
