Digital Learning Day

Did you know that tomorrow is Digital Learning Day? I think it's amazing to live through so much technology change in such a short time period. I was speaking at length with one of my favorite leaders in my own district today and am in awe of the vast resources we now have available at our fingertips to make our lives simpler. Teachers today have more resources than they can even process. Our ever moving, ever changing digital learning assets can be overwhelming. Take heart. You don't have to know everything. Just be open to the possibilities and giving the students opportunities to learn in this digital world. This "tuesdays" is for the digital learner in all of us.

A creative website

Digital Learning Day represents a set of activities across the United States that occur all year long and will culminate in a national celebration in Washington, DC tomorrow.   Digital Learning Day celebrates teachers and shines a spotlight on successful instructional practice and effective use of technology in classrooms across the country. The inaugural Digital Learning Day boasted tens of thousands of educators representing nearly 2 million students. Throughout the Digital Learning Day campaign, the Alliance for Excellent Education seeks to promote the use of technology to support teachers in public schools for grades K-12.  The event focuses on teaching practice, rather than on specific technology tools. A great opportunity for everyone is tomorrow night at 7PM when Discovery hosts the Discovery Education Day of Digital Learning. This free webinar will connect you with educators across the nation happy to share a wealth of information with you. Hope to see you there!

An encouragement

JogNog Challengecreated the Digital Learning Day Challenge to motivate students with digital learning technology. By combining friendly competition with high-quality Common Core content, JogNog aims to make learning - a lot of learning - fun and substantial for the month of February.  The school that learns the most wins! The top three schools in the competition will win trophies and recognition on JogNog's social media pages. Schools win by having their students answer the most questions correctly from the game's library of 60,000 questions, all of which can be accessed free of charge on Digital Learning Day - February 6, 2013. Anyone can play by entering the code EKXAR7F into the search box on JogNog.com or JogNog's mobile apps. Questions for grades 2-8 cover the entire Common Core State Standards - from statistics to Shakespeare. Students will have until the end of February to complete the challenge and bring victory to their schools. To sign up for this exciting competition and get free access to all JogNog quizzes on Digital Learning Day, visit the contest page at www.JogNog.com/DLD2013.
