Hurricane Sandy
Out of respect to my family and friends in the Northeast, this abridged "tuesdays" is to encourage volunteers and emergency relief workers who are now rushing in to the devastated regions hit by Sandy. My brother and his family lost a few trees and are now entering 24 hours without power as ismost of the Northeast. What a job it will be to clean up the mess left behind. May God bless the workers and families waiting for relief.

One of the most incredible volunteer organizations that is ready to go is Samartian's Purse. This fine group led by Franklin Graham literally deliver relief all around the world, but now have their trucks ready and volunteers organized across the country to put boots on the ground to dig the needy out of the aftermath of Sandy. Please consider donating to Samartian's Purse. They definitely put their money where their mouth is.

When our neighborhood was hit by Hurricane Charley in 2004, we experienced the silver lining. It took nearly a week to dig out of the branches and debris churned up by the vicious winds, but instead of worrying, the whole neighborhood came out with shovels and pitchforks and clean up the place. We even took turns feeding each other. Hindsight is 20/20, but our disaster was one of the best times in our lives (after the fact, of course.) I hope the same sense of community prevails all across the northeast.
