There are different definitions for a Blue Moon. Usually Blue Moon refers to the second of two full moons in a month. But a Blue Moon can also be the third of four full moons in a single season -in this case from Junes' summer solstice to Septembers' fall equinox. And Tuesday's Blue Moon was a beautiful sight! It may not have looked very different from any other full moon, but this kind of thing happens only once in a blue moon.
The alchemist in me knew it was the perfect time to catch some of those moonbeams. Blending batches of Samhain & Belladonna (and leaving them to sit under the moon all night) felt like a harvest celebration. Samhain became a perfect bouquet of pumpkin pie, spiced cider, candy corn, creamy caramel custard & apple pie... blood orange, cinnamon bark, cocoa absolute, allspice, sandalwood, smoky vetiver, cardamom, coriander, spices, mandrake root & more. And an adventure awaits all who seek out Belladonna. A narcotic blend of lotus flowers, earthy patchouli, davana, fig etc... adds an enormous amount of power to ritual work, divination, enlightenment, clarity and prophecy! Wear this oil whenever you need divine magic!
So as this month of August nears close, I am reminded that we are again rounding the wheel...flowing through the seasons. This year has been extremely intense, yet I have so much to be grateful for. Friends, family, a roof over my head, the oils...all gifts. And Yemaya? What She gave me can be summed up by one line "All that I am is by your grace" (Jai Gurudev)
Happy Late Summer to all of you
