#89 Requirements of a Good Name
|
"A Psalm of David. O LORD, who may abide in Your tent? Who may dwell on Your holy hill? He who walks with integrity, and works righteousness, and speaks truth in his heart. He does not slander with his tongue, Nor does evil to his neighbor, Nor takes up a reproach against his friend; In whose eyes a reprobate is despised, But who honors those who fear the LORD; He swears to his own hurt and does not change; He does not put out his money at interest, Nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken" (Psalm 15:1-5, NASB).
Having a good name is worth more than any and all accomplishments a man could ever obtain. In the above passage, David tells us that only those who walk in integrity, do works that are righteous, speak the truth, refuse to speak ill of others, and take up the reproach of their friends are worthy enough to dwell in the tent of the living God. There are six basic requirements that need to be fulfilled before this can happen.
