We went to a party recently and had a great time. I sat next to Gary for part of the game. He runs HOPE Farm, a ministry in the inner city of Fort Worth (Texas, USA). While we were cheering and eating like there was no tomorrow, we talked a bit about the state of ministry today. We agreed that Father is up to something, certainly in the lives of His people, but quite possibly on a broader scale.
As I have written before, Father is lavish with His grace, but intentional with our circumstances. He never wastes an opportunity to engage us, encourage us, and enthrall us with His perspective versus our own. There is too much stress, uncertainty, doubt, and grief, for Father to be quiet at this juncture. Jesus told us that our lives in this would would be full of stress, but to not be afraid because He lives above the world, its systems, its ways, its economics, and its offerings of hope (see Jn. 16:33).

None of us are designed to be islands. Even though we fancy ourselves independent, "one" is a lonely number. And, the greater the demand and expectation is on a leader, the more lonely life can be, which dramatically increases the risk of a mistake.
