MAGGIO + KATTAR is pleased to announce an Immigration Community Forum, "The Teachers Are In - On Advising Foreign Students & Scholars" to be held on Wednesday, January 29, from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m.
This forum will address must-know "ABCs" of advising foreign students and scholars, including how to avoid common pitfalls and develop best strategies. Our panel of experts will address the following:
- The Designated School Official (DSO) & immigration attorney - their respective roles;
- Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) - what attorneys must understand;
- Practical Training and Employment Authorization; Changes & Extensions of Stay - hazards to avoid;
- To Seek or Not to Seek Reinstatement; To Stay or To Go: Considerations in International Travel;
- J-1 Researchers/Scholars - the J categories and who is eligible; and the Caution Zone: Deadlines & Grace Periods; and,
- Interagency Policy Coordination: ICE-USCIS-DOS.
The forum will be moderated by Maggio + Kattar Shareholder, Elizabeth Quinn, the expert panel will include:- David Fosnocht, Esq., Director of Immigration Practice Resources, National Association of Foreign Student Advisors (NAFSA);
