Worker's Compensation Self-Insured Group
NUCA of NM has entered into an agreement with AGC New Mexico to qualify NUCA of NM members to participate in the worker's compensation self-insured group*, Worker's Comp Trust. This is an opportunity for NUCA of NM to join the self-insured group without imposing additional requirements such as membership dues.

The New Mexico Contractors Comp Trust Self-Insurance Fund is a service sponsored by AGC New Mexico, and is a separate not-for-profit organized and established under the laws of the State of New Mexico.  The Trust was created to provide care for our members' work-related injuries, safety and loss control services, OSHA inspection assistance, employee safety training, comprehensive recordkeeping and more.

All Worker's Comp Trust services are designed to assist participants in controlling work-related accidents and providing a long-term, stable solution to quality workers' compensation coverage.

When losses are reduced, company costs are reduced. Because the NM Contractors Comp Trust is owned by its participants, they share in the monies not allocated to losses or operational expenses.

The benefits that this Worker's Comp Trust provides are a result of our specialization, focus and understanding of the unique needs of the participants. Some of these benefits are:

The NM Contractors Comp Trust has proven that focusing on superior safety practices drives down the frequency of losses and their associated costs. These loss control programs are available to each and every participant, and are instrumental in creating safer working environments.

  • Lower costs from efficiency in localized claims' handling operations
  • Stabilized premiums
  • "Buy Back" options that could lower experience modifiers
  • High quality, specialized safety and loss control programs
  • Participatory and pro-active claims management to help your injured employees
  • Unique safety incentive program

The NM Contractors Comp Trust has partnered with Adjusting Alternatives as a Third Party Administrator. A local workers' compensation TPA, they are keenly aware of the special needs of associations and their members and were selected for their responsiveness, customized solutions and personalized services.

Call or contact us today and learn how the NM Contractors Comp Trust is contributing to the profitability of New Mexico's premier builders. 505 888 0752

Political Insiders

Will Brown is NUCA's Director of Government Affairs and he's working on Capitol Hill every week to advocate for our industry. The National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA) is well respected on Capitol Hill as one of the major players in the construction industry thanks in part to its political activism. It does always seem that nothing is happening in Washington D.C., but there is work getting done; it's just not making the news.

Check out NUCA's Advocacy Center where you can review Top Issues, Take Action, Find Your Officials, and Election Information.

If you would like to be part of NUCA's Political Insiders group, just email Will and ask to be added to the list - will@nuca.com   Yes, I promise, it really is that simple!!

Latest Political Insider Bulletin:

President Obama's plan calls for new proposals to strengthen America's infrastructure, and we must hold the President to those proposals by ensuring Congress is made up of pro-infrastructure, pro-business Representatives. Investing in infrastructure, particularly water infrastructure, creates projects for contractors and jobs for individuals. NUCA has continuously taken our message to Congress to support infrastructure investment. We've built a strong contingent of Representatives and Senators who are acting on our behalf.

Here's an example: Last week Senators Roy Blunt (R-MO) and Michael Bennet (D-CO) introduced the Partnership to Build America Act- the Senate companion to Rep. Delaney's (D-MD) bill- which would create a nationwide infrastructure trust fund bank financed with corporate (private) dollars. This trust fund will then be used to leverage a significantly higher infrastructure financing.

These are the kinds of proposals NUCAPAC looks for in determining who is worth of our donation. But in order to support these candidates, we must have your support! Please consider contributing to help us build a Congress that understands the power of utility and excavation contracting investment.

By investing in the NUCA PAC, you're investing in your industry's future by helping put decisions makers in the right position to advocate for our industry.

NUCA 2014 Convention and CONEXPO-CON/AGG

NUCA has teamed up with CONEXPO-CON/AGG to bring utility and excavation contractors three full days (March 1-3) of dynamite learning sessions and fun, followed by up to 4 days of free admittance into CONEXPO's huge exhibit (March 4-8). CONEXPO-CON/AGG will showcase more than 3 million sq. ft. of 2,400 companies that provide the very latest in equipment, product, and services. It's a perfect combination--two fantastic shows in one spectacular city.

I encourage you to look through the website to see how much NUCA 2014 Convention has to offer prior to the start of CONEXPO. For the first time ever, NUCA convention will include training for all your key personnel.

We will also be offering our regular breakout educational sessions, interesting and informative speakers, lots of social and networking opportunities, and our very popular profit pipeline contractor roundtables. I hope you will jump on this opportunity. Our registration fee is all inclusive with the exception of the golf tournament, including a 4-day CONEXPO Badge, which will give you admittance to all exhibits. Without a doubt, this is an investment opportunity that could pay dividends for your company in the future. NUCA 2014 Convention and CONEXPO-CON/AGG. A winning combination and a great investment in your company.

I look forward to seeing many of you there!
