Progress in Congress
| |
Three of our most important initiatives are rolling in Congress right now. The REINS Act, PAB Legislation and the WRDA act have seen recent life and we're hoping for some results.
Public Activity Bonds(PAB) -- 07/25/2013
Senator Crapo (R-ID) has again joined Senator Menendez (D-NJ) to introduce the Sustainable Water Infrastructure Investment Act which would remove the volume cap for Private Activity Bonds on water and wastewater projects. Doing so would have an immediate and measurable impact on America's water infrastructure by infusing private funds.
Please follow this link to send a letter to your Senators asking them to cosponsor.
The REINS Act (H.R. 367)- 07/29/2013
The REINS Act will require any administrative rule or regulation with an economic impact of $100 million or greater to be approved by Congress prior to implementation. This will bring transparency to the rulemaking process and provide the business community with a clearly defined cost of any particular rule or regulation's implementation. To send a letter to your Representatives urging their support click HERE. *Insider Info -- Neither Congressman Lujan, or Congresswoman Grisham were very keen on this legislation but that makes it all the more important to contact them and let them know how you would like them to vote. This Act protects businesses from overreaching rules and regulations that are easily and flagrantly passed through government agencies without consideration from Congress.
Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) -08/01/2013 House Transportation and Infrastructure Water Resources Subcommittee Chairman Bob Gibbs has assured the media that WRDA is done but awaiting the promise of Floor time in the House. Click HERE for the story. This is another of NUCA's legislative priority. More specifics to come as they become available.
Check out NUCA's Advocacy Center to read about our top issues, find your officials, get election information, Government 101, & NUCA PAC. You can send letters straight to your representative from this center on important issues like the ones listed above. CLICK HERE.
