Greetings Members!!
The next few months are packed with association activities and meetings, so I hope that I get to see you all gathering with other NUCA of NM members. Although the 2013 Legislative Session is over, there are still quite a few pieces of legislation sitting on the Governor's desk. Will she sign or veto? I'll have a comprehensive report on April 8th, 2013, so watch your email box!
- Associate Showcase - Be sure to come out to the 5th Annual Associate Showcase on April 18, 2013. This is one of our most attended events of the year where NUCA of NM Associate members will put up a booth and you'll have time to browse and visit. This is the best event to talk to our associates about their businesses and to thank them for their continued and essential support of the association. Jason N. Montoya, P.E. Pipeline Safety Bureau Chief is the speaker for this event.
- Volunteer Day at Gorham Camp -- This will be our 3rd year helping out the scout ranch for the day. This year we'll be building buildings! This is a great opportunity to have a group from your company get together and do something worthwhile for the community. It's a beautiful drive up to Chimayo, NM and the camp cook will have you wanting to come back for dinner. Sign up online ASAP!
- The New Mexico Regional Common Ground Alliance 6th Annual EXPO is scheduled for May 21-23, 2013 at the Hard Rock Hotel in Albuquerque. This is the ONLY conference dedicated exclusively to damage prevention in NM and your registration includes all classes, meals and activities on Wednesday and Thursday. Golf and certification classes are also available on Tuesday. Don't miss this conference; it won't be back until 2015.
- Global Harmonized Systems (GHS) Training -- GHS is an international approach to hazard communication, providing agreed criteria for classification of chemical hazards, and a standard approach to label elements and safety data sheets. OSHA is requiring that all employees are trained on the new hazard classifications, label elements and SDS format by December 2013. This required GHS training is scheduled for May 21, 2013 8am - 10am at the NMRCGA EXPO (full registration not required to register for this class). Cost is $40 and this class is taught by Bill Devinney, AON Risk Services. This training will fulfill the requirement by OSHA.
- Washington Summit -- The annual NUCA Washington Summit is scheduled for May 7-9. Please join us and learn about the federal issues that effect us right here in New Mexico and visit with NM's Delegation. CLICK HERE for more information and to register online.
- NUCA of NM Night at Isotopes Park -- On June 1, 2013, we'll be having another evening of fun, food and entertainment IN THE SHADE at the beautiful Isotopes Park. This was a great event last year and we will sell out of tickets so register ASAP.
- Recognizing Hazards -- Do you have a copy of the Nationally Recognized, Award Winning NUCA of NM Recognizing Hazards program? If not, please call the Association office for your free copy. This is a great introductory training program that you can easily incorporate into your orientation program or as a refresher course.
