Legislation: As of January 22nd, there has been 423 bills and memorials dropped for consideration and there's hundreds more to come! NUCA of NM is carefully scanning the daily drops and is reviewing each bill for relevance to the construction industry and small business. Each Monday, you'll receive an email titled Monday Morning Briefing which will give you an update on what legislation we are tracking and its progress through the legislature. Please pay special attention to emails that are labeled "Call To Action" as this requests your input on legislation and your participation helps us succeed in our goals during the session. To determine whether NUCA of NM will support, fight or remain neutral on a proposed piece of legislation, the Board of Directors reviews the legislation and takes a vote. The NUCA of NM Board is very diverse and includes utility contractors, specialty contractors and associates who all have a focus on the industry and small business. If you have an opinion on a piece of legislation (agree or not), please contact me at the NUCA of NM office at 505 888 0752. Your input is important and essential!

I hope to see you at the upcoming membership meeting on February 21, 2013 and at the NUCA Convention in Phoenix Feb 10 - 14th.

Community Workforce Agreement  (CWA)

On January 30th, 2013, the full City of Santa Fe Council will vote on an ordinance for full repeal of the CWA. Passage of this repeal ordinance will force a public hearing on the subject which will allow input from the community and construction industry. There are a few other measures being voted on in regards to the CWA also which will use a pending project as a litmus test for future projects under the CWA. Please consider attending the City Council meeting on January 30, 2013, or call the councilors and ask them to vote for full repeal.

Student wins 1st place with Clean Water Testing Project
Tuttle
Brennen Tuttle, 7th Grader at Hoover Middle School, was wondering what he could do for his science project when Carlos Spiess, over at Sundance Mechanical and Utility, remembered that NUCA of NM did a middle school class project a few years ago for the Anniversary of the Clean Water Act.
Jane Jernigan found one of the water testing kits in storage and, just like that, Brennen had a science project! Brennen not only received an A on his project but he also won first place in the Chemistry category and will be attending a regional competition at UNM in March!

                           Well done Brennen & Good Luck at
Regional's
!

Dear Mrs. Jernigan,

I want to thank you for the water testing kit you found for me. I had a great time doing it. It was easy to follow and very interesting. I did it for my 7th grade science project and got an A (200 points out of 200). My teacher, Mrs. Armstrong asked me to enter it in the school science fair. I showed my project to the judges and answered their questions and won first place for the Chemistry category. I'm going to regionals for judging in March at UNM and I'll let you know how I do.

If it wasn't for NUCA making the Water Testing Kit I don't' think I would have won the contest. I learned a lot about our waters ecosystem and my classmates all had questions and wanted to know about the test and where I got it.

Once again, than you and thanks to everyone at NUCA.

Sincerely,
Brennen Tuttle

100% Money Back Guarantee -

Plus $500 for Your Trouble

Dear Industry Colleague,

Let's talk turkey. We've asked a lot of contractors why they haven't registered (yet!) for Convention 2013 in Phoenix.  Here's what they've told us:

1. Our company has little or no work, and I can't afford time away.

2. The economy is terrible, and we can't afford to go.

3. There are too many conferences, and I can't go to them all.

These boil down to a single concern -- that the convention won't be worth the price of admission and the cost of getting there. But NUCA obliterates them all....in one fell swoop with a guarantee that virtually eliminates any risk.

The value of this year's program is outstanding, and we're sure that you will be completely satisfied with the exceptional education sessions tailored to utility and excavation contractors, and the opportunities to network and build invaluable professional relationships.  The value of the information you will come away with is far greater than the convention costs. Some convention attendees have said it's TEN times greater.

So, here is our risk-free offer......We will cheerfully offer a full refund of the convention registration fee, plus reimburse up to $500 in travel expenses, to any convention attendee who is not completely satisfied with his or her learning experience after the first day of the program.*

You simply....

  • Register for the full NUCA Convention;
  • Attend one of three in depth boot camps (Pipe Bursting or Shale Play or How to Survive the Recovery);
  • And attend one of two special presentations, (18 Legal Issues Solved on an $11 Million Combined Open Cut and Tunneling Job or Keeping Star Employees with Effective Incentive Compensation).

If, at the conclusion of these sessions on Monday afternoon, you don't think you will get your money's worth for the full convention, we will give you a full refund plus your travel expenses up to $500. Period.

         100% Money Back NUCA Guarantee.  No Reason Not to Come!

Our program of timely keynotes, boot camps, presentations, market forums, peer roundtables and case studies is simply exceptional.  You really can't afford not to be there.  And your presence will make this flagship event even better.

If another conference offers a better program and a better guarantee, take it.  If not - please join us!  You will profit from your participation, and we will be appreciative of your support.

Thank you.

* Simply return your convention badge to the registration desk by 3:00 pm on Monday 2/11/13, following the in-depth boot camps and special presentations.  (Note: the guarantee applies to full registration only, not day passes).
