The National Customs Brokers & Forwarders Association of America, Inc. (NCBFAA) is hosting a one-hour webinar on Piracy/General Average and Force Majeure...What Your Customers Need To Know on Wednesday, January 16th at 1PM ET. David Pasco, Senior Account Manager of Roanoke Trade's Chicago office will be the featured speaker.
The following provides discussion topics pertinent to the webinar agenda and provides details on how to register:
- Piracy - Thieves or Terrorists?
Explores the economic impact on shipping worldwide with a focus on the Horn of Africa and the rise of Somali Pirates. - General Average
Explanation of the lesser know risk that has its roots in ancient shipping but unfortunately, is alive and well in the twenty-first century. With the rise of natural diasters like a tsunami and "Superstorm Sandy," how will your customers be protected? We will use the misadventures of the MSC Flaminia as a case study on the machinations of a General Average claim. - Force Majeure
French for "major force," this often misunderstood contractual term could be enacted by a carrier experiencing an act of piracy, a declared General Average or any event in which the carrier finds themselves unable to fulfill their contract of carriage.
