December 2013

God's Great Promise - Oh Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel will come from you, one whose origins are from the distant past. The people of Israel will be abandoned to their enemies until the woman in labor gives birth. (Micah 5:2-3)

God's Great Gift - The angel told the Shepherds, "Don't be afraid! I bring you the most joyful news ever announced, and it is for everyone! The Savior - Yes, the Messiah, the Lord, has been born tonight in Bethlehem! You will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger!" They traveled to the village and found their way to Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby Jesus, lying in the manger. (Luke 2:10-16)

Merry Christmas!

From our CMN family to yours,

we wish you all a peaceful

Christmas season.

Christmas

In spite of the chaos of this busy holiday season, or the current economic uncertainties, or the many unknowns we have to face regarding our future... there is One promise that is stable and enduring ~ Jesus Christ.

God stepped into mankind in the person of Jesus Christ to be the perfect gift to provide a bridge so we can have a personal relationship with Him, the Lord of all creation. If He had not taken that step to us, we could never be good enough to reach up to Him on our own merits.

Jesus really is the reason for this glorious season and He is the only source for deep lasting daily peace and confidence to face tomorrow and whatever it may bring.  Knowing Jesus is the gift that perfectly fits the void in every heart.

We wish you peace and the gift of a closer walk with Him as you learn to trust Him more as we enter another New Year.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

How can we help you

During these difficult times will you let us pray for you, your family, your work, your ministry needs?  We have a faithful team of prayer partners that will take your request to our Heavenly Father and trust Him for results.

We believe strongly in 1 John 5:14-15:  "Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us, and whatever we ask we know that we have the petitions that we asked of Him."

How can you help us

As December 31, 2013 quickly approaches, please consider Christian Mentors Network when you evaluate your year-end giving.  It would be most appreciated if you could give a regular amount each month of $25, $50, $100 or more as you are able as we enter 2014.

A gift of any amount would help CMN with on-going expenses that are needed in order to continue transforming men and women into loving obedient followers of Christ.

Please go to the "DONATElink and you'll access PayPal where you can safely make a tax deductible donation using your credit card or checking account. You can also mail your tax deductible gifts by check to the address below.

2013 was an awesome year!
Barry and I had the privilege of mentoring dozens of men and have watched them go on to mentor others. We have done our equipping seminar at several Iron Sharpens Iron conferences throughout the country including the one CMN hosted on Nov. 2 in Phoenix.

I spoke at the national men's conferences of both the National Coalition of Ministries to Men and the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, as well as local events in Arizona.

Barry and I also led a number of Mentor Coach Training classes for leaders in local churches. This is a weekly commitment that takes nine months to a year to complete.

Julie Lynch has continued our women's ministry, but has had to take an outside job to help support the family until Barry can raise full support so he can stay in ministry. Then hopefully, she can step back into full time ministry with him.

Our "Mentoring His Way" study books are now available to purchase as e-books on Amazon.com, including our latest book, "Go Deeper" which is a quick read that tells the real story of how The Four Steps to More Powerful Mentoring works to change lives.
  • Step One: Engage men in the mentoring process.
  • Step Two: Equip men to become loving obedient followers of Christ.
  • Step Three: Empower men to rely on the Word of God and the Holy Spirit.
  • Step Four: Employ men in the activity of mentoring other men.
Have a great Christmas celebration and lets get focused on how we can serve Him in 2014!

From one Pastor to another...
Jeff Myal
Imagine walking into your local coffee shop and seeing two men from your congregation sitting at a table sharing in a time of personal accountability; or picture a woman from your church personally leading another lady through a one-on-one personal discipleship study; or perhaps envision sitting on a back patio with fifteen other men who are being trained in how to disciple other men in the faith. Wouldn't it pump you up to see these things taking place? Wouldn't you be excited to see that kind of authentic discipleship taking place in your church?

The situations I just mentioned aren't the hopeful dream of a pastor, but are instead actual events that I witnessed taking place with members in our church over the last couple of weeks. What is even more beautiful is that these same things are taking place on a daily basis in our community of faith. Men and women, young and old, new Christians and longtime believers, are engaged in authentic, life-changing one-on-one discipleship.

This catalytic movement of discipleship began for us several years ago when a man in our church, Barry Lynch, met Roy Comstock from the Christian Mentors Network. As he began the discipleship process he entered into a new adventure that eventually took his fundamental Christian beliefs and transformed them into a raging passion for Christ. Barry met with Roy weekly and was changed by the power of the Scriptures as presented in the materials produced by the Christian Mentors Network. As Barry walked through each of the Twelve Characteristics of a Godly Life, his walk with Christ changed before our very eyes. Through his transformation and on-going discipleship, he began to mentor other men in our church. Eventually, I began meeting with Roy and was truly changed by God in ways that I wouldn't have ever expected.

As pastors we are consumed with helping men and women grow in their faith. We desperately want to see people surrender their lives to Christ, grow daily in their faith, and then pass that faith on to others. However, if you're like me, you've probably tried many things that have had limited success or mediocre results. For the first time in my ministry career, I am watching something significant taking place through this simple, powerful, and transferable discipleship program. The best part - it is happening because God is working through His Spirit, His Word, and through His people.

Nothing gives me greater confidence or hope for the future than knowing that God's word is now being passed on from one disciple to another.

So from one pastor to another, let me encourage you to take the next step and get your church involved in this incredible program. You will be blessed and the kingdom of God will grow exponentially before your eyes.
