Meet Christelle Cherizard , a second generation HFC child |

I was born in Bois-Moquette at Pétionville, and I am 7 years old. I am from a Christian family. My mother died when I was a child, but I still have my dad, two brothers and one sister. I was often sick because in the area where I was living, there were werewolves*, but my dad was always praying for me because we trust in God.
My favorite story in the Bible is Esther. My best friends in the orphanage are Doodna, Kyslène, Abigaëlle, and Rose Phara. I feel good in the orphanage because they take care of me. I want to say thank you for everything you've done for me.
*The existence of werewolves is a part of voodoo beliefs; these "werewolves" are typically people who wear an animal skin while practicing voodoo, and who seek to harm others physically or spiritually. HFC is grateful for the opportunity to counter these beliefs with Biblical teaching and to equip the children in our care with Scriptural truth that they can in turn share with their relatives and others they will know in their lifetime.

HFC's Haitian staff was able to get an effective anti-fungal medication for the kids with acne, and they are all showing marked improvements, as you can see from these photos of Adamson!

Pastor John and his wife visited the orphanage for a few days from Texas to play with the kids.
Our school feeding program started, continuing Marion Austin's legacy of providing nutritious food to ALL of the children in our care! See a short video clip of the feeding program by clicking below.

Mary Smith joined our Board of Directors! |
My story begins in Louisville, Kentucky as a daughter of a Christian, middle class family of six. One lasting legacy from my parents was their strong nature to respond to needs of others around them. They modeled Matthew 25:40 - And the king will answer them, "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me" - during their ordinary life, through their empathy, courage and habits. From this compassion, I saw blessings greater than the service their hands and hearts provided.
During the school years for our three children (Marshall, Tyler, and Claire), God showed me people outside our "blood" who needed his hand. He gave me the capacity to reach out, and he gave my husband, John, the discernment to pull me back in when necessary. I could never have known then that God was preparing us for a future adoption.
In June 2010, while visiting HFC, we met a young lady named Guerdine who instantly stole our hearts. Two years and three visits later, I was a new mother of a distinctively special sixteen year old daughter. The miracles and challenges of blending our family in 2012 were momentous.
It is out of gratitude that I'm called by God to serve at HFC. For Guerdine to be raised and educated in such a Christ centered environment was a great and sustaining gift. If I (and my family) can help other children "fill their lamps" with God's love and grace in the safe HFC home and school, I'm eager to serve.
If you would be interested in serving on HFC's Board of Directors, please contact HFC's office (information provided above).

| Ministry Needs | Christelle and other children in HFC's care would benefit from a $35/month sponsorship to help cover her living and schooling expenses. Christelle has one sponsor so far.
Our goal for 2014 is to match each HFC child with at least three sponsors. Would you consider sponsoring Christelle or one of her friends?
Please pray for our students as they have entered their final quarter of the school year. Students in grades 6, 9, and 13 will be taking National Exams in June and July.
Please pray for our Board of Directors, whose next meeting will be Thursday, May 1st.
