Greetings!
I am very excited to share this month's updates with you! Having recently returned from a staff trip to Haiti (March 12th-18th), it was wonderful to spend some time with our Haitian staff and kids and see the good work that God is doing there. Look for some pictures and a video clip in our next edition!
This month, we set up a new kitchen for the school feeding program, and were blessed with a donation of rice from Food for the Poor! We also learned more about Phawensky Louis, and are pleased to introduce him to you. Phawensky is one of the children we're caring for at the orphanage who still needs sponsors. If you have any questions or would like to get more information about any of the stories included in this e-update, please contact Cheryl Henlin at Cheryl.Henlin@hfchaiti.org or by phone at 781-937-8338. |
| Meet Phawensky Louis, a second generation HFC child |
My name is Phawensky Louis, and I am 9 years old. I was born in Mirebalais. My mother and father died when I was a baby. I have an older sister, her name is Chaïna. We both grew up with our grandmother, Rose Delivrance. Our grandmother did all that she could to help us, but she is now old. I worry that if my grandmother dies I will have no one else who can care about me like her.
When I was at home, things were not always good for us. Sometimes, we saw wrongdoers who attacked the people in our area but God always rescued us. We trust in God. My favorite story of the Bible is Abraham; I want to be like him.
My favorite game is soccer; I am an excellent goal keeper! My best friend in the orphanage is Bertrand. I love HFC because I learn a lot of things like stories and songs.

| Monthly happenings |
Last month, we asked you to pray for six of the second generation kids (Adamson, Wisnada, Andy, Vassetie, Roodenaly, and Roodemia) who suffered from a fungal skin problem that causes acne. Wisnada and Roodenaly have shown some improvement, but the others continue to have acne. Please continue to pray for their healing as the orphanage staff look for a prescription medication that was recommended by doctors that HFC consulted with in the US.
 | | Food for the Poor rice donation |
This month, our food expenses were reduced by a donation from Food for the Poor of several bags of rice - praise God for His provision!
 | | new stoves |
 | | old kitchen repairs |
HFC built a separate area in its food storage room for the school feeding program supplies, built a new kitchen with 5 burners to cook on, and made some repairs to our existing kitchen. Fabiola Pierre Charles, one of HFC's post-secondary students who is living with HFC board member Kelly Schaaf in Philadelphia, was accepted into Eastern University's nursing program for fall 2014! Eastern University is a Christian school, and Fabiola has worked very hard to get into this program. We celebrate this opportunity for her to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse! |

Thanks for reading and praying about these items! Next month, we'll be sharing more about how HFC is continuing Marion Austin's legacy of providing nutritious meals to ALL of the children in our care, and we will introduce you to our newest board member!
In Christ,
Cheryl Henlin

| Ministry Needs | Phawensky and other children in HFC's care would benefit from a $35/month sponsorship to help cover his living and schooling expenses.
Would you consider welcoming this boy into your heart as his sponsor?
We are also looking for 25 more school sponsors at $27/month - 55 students are already sponsored. Please help us to finish the school year strong!
HFC's General Fund pays for doctor's visits, fuel costs, water purchases, monthly generator oil and filter changes (an inverter was installed this month by a Haitian technician, shown above; the inverter will reduce our monthly fuel expenses), general repairs, and orphanage staff salaries.
Join us in recognizing the important work that is being done daily by the staff in Haiti by supporting these areas of our ministry - click the "Give HOPE Today" button above to make a gift! |
