Meet Henan Healing Home Nanny: Jing
by Laurie Sweeney, Henan Healing Home Assistant Coordinator
LWB supporters and volunteers all love to read reports of the children helped in our programs and the changes in their lives. But being an ocean away makes it easy to sometimes overlook the fact that there are many dedicated people in China making those transformations possible.
Jing is a nanny at LWB's Henan Healing Home (HHH). More than just a job to her, she is fully devoted to the babies under her care. Jing is a widow whose daughter is grown and works many hours away in Beijing. Jing has a great desire and capacity to pour out love and care to hurting babies. She tells us that when she heard of the job opportunity at HHH, she jumped at the chance.
Typically nannies in LWB's Healing Homes work four days on and two days off. That gives Jing plenty of opportunity to fall in love with her babies and nurture the attachment skills they will use when they join their forever families. She claims that the best part of her job is to see unhealthy, hurting children transform over time to being healed, loved, and prepared for their next phase of life.
Jing sends her thanks to the HHH sponsors and says,"We couldn't do it without you." We return the same sentiment toward Jing.

Stepping Out
by Julie Flynn Coleman, Healing Homes Director
As we forge ahead into 2013,
I reflect on all the good that has happened in LWB's healing homes over the past year. I think of how each one of us - sponsor, volunteer, China staff - have woven a little magic into the lives of so many sweet children. I will be celebrating the Chinese New Year Festival with my family and friends here in Ireland. As I set my New Year's Eve table with that special place for the ancestors, I know a little thread connecting my heart to all of yours will also twang, and I will smile my knowing smile and nod with thoughts of you.
May this New Year bring many opportunities to you and to the children we hold close - opportunities to explore every joy of life. The children from each of LWB's Healing Homes send you their best season greetings. In return, let me send them best wishes on your behalf:
Listening intently, little Jerren turned in concentration as her Anhui Healing Home nanny held her close and whispered a wish for happiness to surround her always.
For regal Willow from True Children's Healing Home, we wish that the coming New Year will continue to bring her joy, love, and peace.
As Delyth from Heartbridge Healing Home strides out into the world to meet her forever family this spring, we send her on her way with wishes for good health, good luck, and much happiness always!
And finally for sweet Heather from our Henan Healing Home, we wish that those arms that reach up and out will always be met by loving arms in return, and that she and every child we have the pleasure to serve knows love.
