Initial Data From The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery's (ASAPS') preliminary survey findings from its procedural statistical data for the 2015 calendar year suggest that both surgical and nonsurgical procedures are on the rise. Both men and women are partaking in a variety of aesthetic procedures in steadily increasing numbers. Nonsurgical procedures are up 22% with 10,879,909 procedures performed, and combined surgical and nonsurgical procedures are up 20% compared to last year's data, with a total of 12,792,377 procedures performed.
James C. Grotting, MD, President of ASAPS states, "Our survey findings paint a clear picture of a healthy aesthetic marketplace, with considerable growth among surgical and nonsurgical procedures alike. As techniques and technologies advance, patients have an even wider array of options from non-invasive to invasive, semi-permanent to permanent, and it appears that both doctors and patients are getting accustomed to tailoring procedures to individual patient needs with all of the options at their disposal."

Future fillers: ProHilo & Beletaro Volume

Two new fillers being launched in Europe could be game changers for cosmetic surgeons and their patients in the U.S., according to Washington, DC-area dermatologist Hema Sundaram, M.D.
From her international research and educational work, Dr. Sundaram has a pulse on what cosmetic dermatologists and plastic surgeons are doing worldwide, and there's lots of chatter, she says, around a new, chemical-free, thermally crosslinked hyaluronic acid (HA) technology for skin laxity. Earlier this year, she chaired a symposium at the International Master Course on Aging Science (IMCAS) in Paris on the new HA technology by Italian pharmaceutical company, IBSA Farmaceutici, called ProfHilo.
