Sign Up for the EWS Blood Drive blood drive

Every two seconds, someone in America needs blood. This is an ongoing need felt by our area hospitals and patients. Our local community requires over 800 donations daily to meet the transfusion needs in over 250 hospitals. Your donation can save the lives of up to three people.

You must be over the age of 16 to give blood. If you are not old enough, or if you are not capable of giving blood, encourage your parents and friends to register for the blood drive. Signups will be taken from November 20 to November 29. To sign up, email
 Benjamin Schoen.

Spring Musical Changed to "Wizard of Oz"

Our spring musical has been changed from "Peter Pan" to Oz"Wizard of Oz." Our Theater Department Chair Jen Bauer-Conley wanted to explain the reason behind the change:

"When schools and amateur theater companies apply for the rights to produce and perform a show, those rights are granted under very specific circumstances; namely, that the show is not being performed by a professional theatre in the surrounding area around the same time. When EWS applied for the rights months ago, we were in the clear- green light "Peter Pan!" However, as some of you may have seen, a professional production of "Peter Pan," starring Cathy Rigby, has since been sent out on tour (coming through Houston in December). Red light, "Peter Pan" for EWS.

When we got the news that our rights had been pulled, Mr. Berthold, Mr. Nichols and I racked our brains (along with some help from Mr. Dow, Dr. Bishop and Mrs. White) to think of a show that would offer the same exciting elements we were looking forward to in "PP"- amazing technical opportunities, an element of fantasy and fairy tale, great parts for both middle and upper schoolers, and yes- flying onstage! We were very happy to realize that "The Wizard of Oz" meets all these demands, and more.

I'd be willing to bet everyone knows at least a little bit about "Oz," but if you have any questions about the show, please don't hesitate to ask, via email or in person. We're incredibly excited about this amazing show, and looking forward to seeing you there!"
