Blue Book Calendar Changes      

 

  • Please remember that the early dismissal at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 15 is for ALL students.
  • Middle School Exam Review Days for Winter Exams will be on Friday and Monday, December 14 and 17, which will both be a Day 0.
  • Middle School Exam Days will begin on December 18 and run through December 21.
  • Upper School Exam Review Days for Winter Exams will be on Friday and Monday, December 14 and 17, which will both be a Day 0.
  • The Upper School Exam Schedule is as follows:
    • Tuesday, 12/18:         8:30-12:40

                                         7:45-1:25, extended time

    • Wednesday, 12/19:    8:30-12:40

                                         7:45-1:25, extended time

    • Thursday, 12/20:        8:30-12:40

                                         7:45-1:25, extended time

    • Friday, 12/21:             11:45 all students

  • MS ERBs will be Tuesday, February 26 - Friday, March 1
  • Spring Show dates will be March 7, 9 and 10.

Keep up with the College Counseling Department with College Counseling Newsletter. There are seven scholarships listed this week, including one new addition. A representatives from Iowa State University will be on campus next week for the final college push before Thanksgiving break.

Recent Speakers at EWS Highlight Space Program, Peace Between Jewish, Arab Students

  

As part of our ongoing effort to bring in a variety of speakers to educate students about topics outside the regular curriculum, three very unique speakers were featured in recent Kallah and Ma'amad sessions this past week.

On Thursday, November 8, graduates from the Hand in Hand high school program in Jerusalem spoke to students about the importance of peace and seeing past differences. Tamar Borman, Jewish, and Lana Daragme, Arab, spoke about their experience being in high school together in Jerusalem and efforts to coexist in the same Israeli school.

On Monday, November 12, former astronaut and current director of the NASA Johnson  Coats WebSpace Center, Captain Michael L. Coats spoke to both Upper and Middle School students, and some parents, about the future of the space program. Always up for talking to young minds of the future, Mr. Coats was doubly happy to speak on campus as his own daughter, Laura Larkin, is the Upper School Counselor.
