Coffee Talk with the Counselors on Nov. 7
Is your teenager struggling to manage the stress in his or her life? We all know the middle and high school years are uniquely challenging to navigate with social pressures, academic stressors, and physical changes. Please join the counselors for a parent "Coffee Talk" on Wednesday, November 7 from 8 - 9 a.m. in the Fine Arts Conference Room where we will discuss strategies for fostering resiliency and ways to teach healthy coping skills to our teenagers. College Counseling News
Keep up with the College Counseling Department with College Counseling Newsletter. There are six scholarships listed this week, including one new one. Representatives from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Texas Tech University will be on campus next week for the final college push before Thanksgiving break.

Veteran's Day Celebration on Friday, Nov. 9
EWS Middle School Teacher and Veteran Kirk O'Neal would like to invite any Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces and their spouses from the EWS Middle School community to our special Veteran's Day Kallah at 9 a.m. on Friday, November 9.
If you or a member of your family are a Veteran and would like to be recognized at our special Kallah, please email Mr. O'Neal with the veteran's name, branch of service, the war and/or years served and how they are related to an Emery/Weiner Middle School student. If there are family members who are Veterans and who cannot attend, please send Mr. O'Neal as much information as possible so he can still acknowledge them.
To participate in our Veteran's Day Kallah, Mr. O'Neal needs all Veterans to meet him at 9 a.m. in the Stein/Schechter Library in the Stein Fine Arts Complex on Friday, November 9. The Kallah will last from 9:22 - 10:05 a.m. with a short reception immediately following.

NASA Johnson Space Center Director to Speak at EWS on Nov. 12
Mark your calendars, EWS parents! Current NASA Johnson Space Center Director  Michael L. Coats - father to our very own Laura Larkin, US Guidance Counselor - will be on campus for an all-school assembly at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 12. Mr. Coats will speak about our space program, his experiences as an astronaut and NASA's future. Students will be invited to ask questions at the end of the presentation. If you'd like to join us for this special presentation, please RSVP to Katie Ray by Wednesday,
November 7. Students will watch the presentation from the Becker Theater, but we will have a live stream running to the Stolbun Black Box Theater for parents. We hope you can join us on Monday, November 12!
