As we launch the countdown to the 12th Annual JOE Dinner & Auction, you have the opportunity to bid online starting NOW! Go to www.joeauction.org to bid on amazing items, such as: Item #29, Texans Football Up Close and Personal: Enjoy an action-packed Sunday Night Football game with 4 sideline passes! Invite 3 of your football buddies to join you for a unique experience allowing you all to witness the Houston Texans and Indiana Colts warm up for the December 16th game, from the sidelines. The highest bidder will receive 4 tickets, 2 parking passes and 4 sideline passes allowing access to the field 2 hours prior to kickoff. You will receive 2 tickets at: Section 508 (50 Yard Line), Row J, Seats 1-2 and 2 tickets at: Section 126, Row EE, Seats 7-8.

All School Dismissal at 12:30 p.m. on October 17
US October 17 Schedule of Events
9th Grade to the Houston Zoo: Students should arrive to school no later than 8 a.m. in order to board the bus. Students will complete an assignment for Biology during their time at the Zoo. Details will be provided in their Biology I class. The students will return by 12 p.m. and all 9th graders are permitted to leave once they return to the campus.
10th and 11th Grade PSAT Test: Sophomores and juniors will need to bring several #2 pencils and a calculator on October 17.
PSAT Test Arrival Times: Extended Time: 7:55 a.m. Arrival 8 a.m. - 12:10 p.m. Test administered 12:10 p.m. Dismissal
Regular Time: 8:55 a.m. Arrival 9 - 12:10 p.m. Test administered 12:10 p.m. Dismissal
12th Grade College Counseling Workshop: 12th Graders will participate in an informative and fun workshop hosted by our very own College Counseling Department. Parents are invited to attend the workshop from 8 to 10 a.m. and students will remain until 12 p.m. to work on College Applications. If parents of seniors would like to attend the workshop, please RSVP to Lee Mimms to confirm your spot at the workshop.
- 12th Graders are required to be at school on October 17.

Veteran's Day Coming Up at EWS
EWS Middle School Teacher and Veteran Kirk O'Neal would like to invite any Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces and their spouses from the EWS Middle School community to our special Veteran's Day Kallah at 9 a.m. on Friday, November 9.
If you or a member of your family are a Veteran and would like to be recognized at our special Kallah, please email Mr. O'Neal with the veteran's name, branch of service, the war and/or years served and how they are related to an Emery/Weiner Middle School student. If there are family members who are Veterans and who cannot attend, please send Mr. O'Neal as much information as possible so he can still acknowledge them.
To participate in our Veteran's Day Kallah, Mr. O'Neal needs all Veterans to meet him at 9 a.m. in the Stein/Schechter Library in the Stein Fine Arts Complex on Friday, November 9. The Kallah will last from 9:22 - 10:05 a.m. with a short reception immediately following.
