 AIANYS Responds to Superstorm Sandy

In the wake of Superstorm Sandy, AIANYS has put together a Disaster Response section on our website. This includes articles and links to various resources. Several chapters also sent articles to be posted. AIANYS also wrote an op-ed piece that was distributed to all major NYS newspapers. Go to www.aianys.org.

Design Build Authorized for the Repair of State Facilities in Disaster Area

On November 20, Governor Cuomo issued Executive Order #79 authorizing the Commissioner of the Office of General Services to combine design and construction services in one contract, as well as to obtain design and construction inspection services for the repair of state facilities damaged by Superstorm Sandy. This Executive Order is similar to the one issued last year in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.
Design Build and other alternate project delivery methods have been part of our Legislative Program for the past several years. This action by the Governor recognizes that in certain circumstances, design build yields a more efficient and effective delivery process.
