Great Design Trends
The Great Gatsby

Jay Gatsby's estate isn't the only hot spot for twenties decor!
Art Deco
Style is back, and in more than just fashion design.  Interior design has been subject to this surge in roaring twenties aesthetic.
This spring, the
Baz Luhrmann
version of the film and novel, The
Great Gatsby, will hit cinemas with a bang. And we can only imagine what stunning cinematography, glitz and glamour he has in store for viewers.  Designers such as Kelly Wearstler and
Charles Allem
have been inspired by Art Deco geometric shapes, high gloss, and glamour for years, but quite recently the trend has captured a much broader audience and selling look-a-likes in retailers everywhere.  From mirrored and lacquered furniture, to wallpaper with geometric deco shapes, to curvy, low-profile furniture, Art Deco is a Great trend in 2013!

Lighting As Sculpture

Alright, so maybe a lit Chihuly is a bit much as a chandelier for your home.  But that's no reason not to incorporate sculpture with a glow.  Lets explore the world of sculpture as lighting, and see where your space can be illuminated with art.  In the vein of organic modern art, Hive has produced a series of light fixtures aimed at takes on basic shapes found in plants and animals.  As the name indicates, many of Hive's pieces are reminiscent of the hexagonal shape of a honeycomb.  This fixture reminds us of plant roots, but is actually comprised of tiny human stick figures. Read the entire article on our blog.

Cottonwood Art Festival
Featuring Sculptor Amos Robinson

Artist/Sculptor Amos Robinson will be one of the talents showcased at this years' Cottonwood Art Festival (May 4-5).  His work includes kinetic art, mobiles, and sculpture.  Hoo (shown right) is made of stainless steel and carbon steel.

"My process integrates fluid shapes, kinetic motion, sensual form, reflective light and rich color to transform a sheet of cold, hard steel.  The materials and methods of construction give permanence to my dreams."

To Flush, Or Not To Flush
Is That The Question?

How's your powder room?  You know, that little space for guests with special hand towels and scented candles.  Is it time to start thinking about an update?  Weather you want to give your bathroom a complete face lift, or simply update your fixtures to more water efficient, be sure to remember the commode with a heart of gold.

American Standard Champion does more than you might think.  Not only is it powerful and efficient, but American Standard has pledged to donate sanitary toilet plans for every model sold in 2013.  This donation will directly benefit children in developing nations who are most at risk for sanitation related illnesses.

According to the United Nations statistics on sanitation, "Every 20 seconds a child dies as a result of poor sanitation.  That's 1.5 million preventable deaths each year."  So, if you are thinking of updating your restroom go with a "Flush for Good," go with American Standard Champion.
