State releases A-F school grades
The State Department of Education has released A-F
grades for each public school in Oklahoma. The SDE calculated the grades based on a formula it developed.

Two state question s on the ballot for Tuesday's General Election impact NPS' school funding. While NPS would not take a position on the questions or advocate for a vote outcome, it has been asked by parents and patrons to share the fiscal impact of these questions.

Making a Difference

During a 2010 meeting of the College Board's National Office of School Counseling Advocacy (NOSCA), data from the Schott 50 State Report on Public Education and Black Males was shared. According to the report, the graduation rate for black males in Oklahoma is between 50-59 percent. As a school counselor, I took this information as a call to action.

NNHS, NHS earn playoff bids

With regular season play ending tonight, Norman North finishes as District Champion in its league and Norman High is the District Runner Up. Both teams' stellar records mean they will begin the playoffs at home on Harve Collins Field next week. As of Nside's publication, their opponents had not yet been determined.

26th annual All-City Choir heralded as best in series

The Robert Lee Kidd All-City 5th Grade Choir Concert this past Tuesday, Oct. 30, was, by many observers, the very best produced and performed by NPS faculty and students in the annual event's 26 years.

NNHS DECA first high school org in state to hold 'Art for Walk for Wishes'
Norman North's DECA club is the first high school in Oklahoma to be organizing an upcoming "Walk for Wishes," organizers say. While other Walks for Wishes have been sponsored throughout the nation by other organizations to benefit the Make A Wish Foundation and their state affiliates, NNHS' DECA club is the first organization to do so at the high school level in Oklahoma, said the club's Vice President for Publicity Maddy Stoner.

NHS book fair to raise library funds
Students from Norman High School will host a special Book Fair from Scholastic next week to help raise funds for new books at NHS. Parents, children, teachers, and the community are invited to attend and fair attendees can also help build classroom libraries by purchasing books for teachers.
