Participant Spotlight
Meet Will Tomlin, a member of The First Tee of Greater Sacramento program at Ancil Hoffman Golf Course. Will (8) has been participating in the junior golf programs this year.

What about golf do you like? I like that it is a sport that's relaxing and that I can do well, even with my heart condition.

What are your other hobbies? I enjoy building Legos, playing baseball, the guitar, and video games.

What's an interesting fact about you? I have a congenital heart defect and sometimes get worn out quickly. I love books about stuff, from dinosaurs to space travel. I always have a book with me.

Who would be in your ideal foursome? I would want my coach, Pete; my dad; and my mom.

Who is your favorite golfer and why? My favorite golfer is Tom Watson. He is my favorite because he is good and I met him last year at the U.S. Senior Open at Del Paso Country Club.

What is your favorite of The First Tee Nine Core Values and why? Confidence. Golf has given me confidence that I can play well. With my heart condition, many sports are too hard. Golf has given me something I can be good at.

What made junior golf camp fun at Ancil Hoffman? Golf camp at Ancil Hoffman was fun because Coach Pete was good with us and we always had fun on and off the course.

BIG Day of Giving
What an amazing day it was! Despite all the technical dificulties, our donors came through in a BIG way.  On behalf of The First Tee of Greater Sacramento, we would like to express a heartfelt thank you for "Giving Where Your Heart Was" on May 3rd. We received over $90,000, including matching funds from the Morton Golf Foundation. The BIG Day far exceeded our goals and will help further our mission to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.

These funds will be used to help expand our National School Program, increase the number of Golferships given and expand our Outreach Programs in the greater Sacramento area in 2016. These programs make it possible for many young people to experience our curriculum who would otherwise not be able to. Together we are making a difference in the futures of our young people and building leaders of tomorrow.

Thank you!

For the young ladies that wish to freshen up their golf skills before the season begins...this is just for you!  This program, which will be taught by Kelli Corlett, is designed to help high school female golfers have a better understanding of the rules of golf, the etiquette of the game, meet other participants from different schools and work on all aspects of the game before the season officially begins.  We will discuss how to practice, specifically what to practice and create an environment in which all abilities will improve.  The class runs Saturdays from June 11 thru August 6 (skipping July 2), from 2:00 to 4:00; the total cost for the program is $139.95.
