The First Tee 2015 Network Meeting

March was full of momentum for The First Tee of Greater Sacramento as we had a team of 14 including board, coaches, staff and a participant at The First Tee 2015 Network Meeting in Dallas Texas. The event featured several keynote speakers, educational breakouts and best practice-sharing networking sessions. We heard from David L. Cook, PhD, & author of "Seven Days in Utopia," Admiral Howard, the highest ranking woman in naval history, David Feherty from The Golf Channel, Annika Sorenstam and George W. Bush!

Ken Morton, Sr., Founder of The First Tee of Greater Sacramento, was honored with the Jack Stephens Leadership Award for his outstanding service, leadership and commitment to the organization's mission.

Our Executive Director, Angie Dixon, received The First Tee Chairman's Award from Joe Louis Barrow, Jr., CEO of The First Tee. She was recognized for her support to local chapters and the home office, which has allowed them to impact the lives of young people in a meaningful way.

Our chapter took so much away from this week! We are looking forward to incorporating what we have learned to make the experiences for our young people even greater in 2015 and beyond!

Wells Fargo Succeeding Together Contest
|
 We are so proud of our The First Tee of Greater Sacramento participant Jack Dibachi as he is a top 10 finalist in the Wells Fargo Succeeding Together Contest!!! Jack has a chance at being 1 of 4 young people selected to attend the Wells Fargo Championship and our chapter has a chance at winning a $1,000 gift card, if Jack has the most "shares" of his essay!! On April 5, 80 junior golfers participated at Augusta National Golf Club for the Drive, Chip & Putt Championship.
And what do 16 of them have in common? 
The First Tee!
The road to Magnolia Lane began with local qualifying held at more than 250 sites throughout the United States during the summer of 2014. With every drive, every chip and every putt, these golfer are now eligible to compete at one of the most historic courses in the world.
Congratulations to Meghan Paracuelles,who placed 3rd
in the girls 7 to 9 year old division! Megan is a participant in our U.S. Kids Golf Tour and at the Empire Ranch program location.
Congratulations Meghan we are all so proud of you!

2015 U.S. Senior Open
|
The 36th U.S. Senior Open to be held June 22-28, 2015 at Del Paso Country Club, in Sacramento, Calif., will feature a field of 156 of the world's best professional and amateur senior golfers (over the age of 50). Players who are eligible to compete include Fred Couples, Davis Love III, Fred Funk, Tom Lehman, Kevin Sutherland & Tom Watson. This U.S. Senior Open will be the first staged in Northern California. 
The First Tee of Greater Sacramento is looking for volunteers to help with concessions at the 2015 U.S. Senior Open. Each volunteer will receive a credential that will serve as a ticket to access the championship during the same day(s) that you are volunteering.

Our FREE Girls Golf Clinics are a great way for young ladies ages 9 to 17 to meet new friends, become familiar with ways to get involved with the game and learn in an environment that is friendly, fun and educational.
Each clinic will be held at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex, on the Academy Holes (located at the back of the driving range).

Some of the fun things happening are free souvenir photos of Sponge Bob Squarepants and Dora the Explorer.
Alligator, baby lions, wallabee and many other animals will be on display. So much you just need to come see.
