Matching Funds Grant
We are excited to announce an opportunity to maximize the value of your gift!  The First Tee of Greater Sacramento has matching dollars available through The First Tee home office, thanks to Legacy Partner, Johnson & Johnson.  In order to qualify for this grant, we must increase our total number of donors by 100 more than 2012 numbers, and then your gift will stretch even further as we earn $for every $raised.

$10 becomes $15

Your gift will help us in to grow our programs in 2014 to reach over 2,000 participants at our local golf courses and to increase our reach in
local area schools to over 9,000 children.

We are just 38 donors away from reaching the mark.

Participant Spotlight

Meet Noor Ahmed.  She joined The First Tee of Greater Sacramento in 2008 and for the past three years has been a member of the Jr Tour.  This year, she finished in the Top 3 in all eight events she played in with a scoring average of 80.  Noor is currently a member of our Eagle Life Skills Class and has begun giving back by volunteering as a life skills instructor, with our US Kids tournaments and at special events.

Q & A with Noor
What is your dream foursome?

Phil Mickelson, Francis Ouimet, Harry Vardon, and Tony Romo.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what three items would you take with you?

I would take with me unlimited water, Bear Grylls (host of Man vs. Wild), and a cell phone.

What is your favorite part about being a member of The First Tee of Greater Sacramento?

My favorite part of being a member of The First Tee is that we are like a family. We all know each other and we give each other advice and we enjoy each others company. We learn from each other and we feed off each other's success.

If you were granted three wishes, what would you ask for?

I would ask for a cure for cancer, the ability to persuade people, and for every person to do the right and honest thing rather than the selfish thing.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

I see myself a traveling freshman on UCLA's women's golf team.

The First Tee Nine Healthy Habits were created through a collaboration among The First Tee, ANNIKA Foundation, and Florida Hospital for Children to promote healthy, active lifestyles for young people. The healthy habits are a list of nine health and wellness topics presented as a part of The First Tee National School Program and Life Skills Experience, formatted for easy understanding and learning by elementary-age students and chapter participants.

Wellness Activities within The First Tee Life Skills Experience

At the various levels of the Life Skills Experience curriculum there are health and wellness activities.

  • PLAYer level participants are asked to demonstrate good judgment as it relates to healthy behaviors by choosing to properly prepare their bodies through exercise, nutrition, and hydration.
  • Par level participants are asked to set their Personal Par for wellness and physical activity.
  • Birdie level participants are asked to use STAR (Stop, Think, Anticipate, and Respond) for wellness and physical activity.
  • Eagle level participants learn "Stay Well for Life" through specific life skills techniques which are delivered to address a Healthy Body, Mind, and Heart. Some of the lesson titles include: Building Physical Wellness; Choosing a Healthy Lifestyle; Eat Right, Drink Right; and Personal Wellness Goal Ladder.
