Little Linkers TOC
As we celebrate our 30th Anniversary this year, out Little Linkers program celebrates their 30th as well. Founded in 1983, Little Linkers is an eight-week competitive playing program for boys and girls ages 7-12 years old.  Since its inception, Little Linkers has been a model program for golf courses across the nation as a way to have young people compete on a course sized to their abilities.  Today, this program is held at six area golf course: Ancil Hoffman, Bing Maloney, Diamond Oaks, Haggin Oaks, William Land and Woodcreek.

On August
25th, at Haggin Oaks, 49 juniors ages 7-12 completed in the Hugh & Peggy Campbell Little Linkers Tournament of Champions.  Special thanks to The Morton Golf Foundation for their wonderful support of this event.  The little linkers played nine holes, with 10 players scoring below par and three age group champions being decided by sudden death putt-off.

Congratulations to all of the TOC players for making it into the event.  Our overall boys champion was Arturo Zavala age 11 with a 32 and our overall girls was champion Hailey Rietz age 12 with a 35.

Participant Spotlight

Meet Ietetsu Ueyama, a The First Tee of Greater Sacramento participant for the past four years at both William Land Park Golf Course and Haggin Oaks Golf Complex.  He is a member of the Little Linker Program, Year Round After School Program and the Saturday FUNdamental Movement class.  Ietetsu also volunteers much of his spare time at many of The First Tee fundraising events and other organizations outside of golf.  He is a true joy to have in class, as he always brings a positive attitude and smile with him wherever he goes.

Q&A with Ietetsu
How old were you when you started to play golf?
I started playing golf at 4 1/2 years old.

What is your part about playing golf?

I enjoy having fun playing with other kids.  I've made a lot of friends.

Who is your favorite golfer?

My coaches.

What is your favorite Core Value?

Perseverance.  I like it because you never give up.

If you could play golf with any three people, who would you play with and why?

That's a  hard one.  I can't choose because I want to golf with Coach Tom, Coach Kelli, Coach Brian, Evan and Ms. Jane and many more....  but if I had to choose, it would be....Coach Brian, Coach Kelli and Ms. Jane because they have taught me how to play golf.  Ms. Jane has given me the chance to volunteer.

Thank you Ietetsu for all of your hard work,
both on and off the golf course!

Congratulations
