Celebrate and honor our Mother Earth
"The Universe is asking you to confirm with yourself whether you would like to serve the Earth, to save the Earth, be a sage of the Earth. Earth - the sustainer, the Mother of you, which nurtures you - can you nurture it back? That which serves you, can you serve it back?"
-Yogi Bhajan

"I will tell you something about food. Just put up a little sign on the table that says: 'My stomach has no teeth.' Do you understand? If even one-tenth of your food goes from your mouth into the body without saliva, it will create disease."

Special Recipes from Yogi Bhajan

By Guruatma Kaur

I'm excited for the opportunity to share these recipes and I'm thinking they have never been published, as Yogi Bhajan gave them out back in the 'olden days of 3HO' to individuals challenged by a particular circumstance and when they were in need of a cleansing diet for drug detoxification.

How can you incorporate a hefty dose of the Trinity Roots - onions, garlic, and ginger - into your diet and begin to gain the incredible benefits that come by eating the three foods that Yogi Bhajan glorified?

Sat Nam Dear 3HO Family,

Spring and Fall are great times to cleanse and purify body, mind, and spirit, so this month we're focusing on Cleansing and the Yogic Diet.

Yogi Bhajan taught so much on this subject - we have gathered a huge list of links to recipes and yogic diets, as well as blogs on cleansing and even an Ayurvedic dosha (body type) quiz. We've also included Bhoj Kriya, his quintessential meditation on how to bless and eat your food.

April 22 is the UN's International Mother Earth Day. 3HO is offering a Global Meditation to honor and celebrate our Mother Earth.

Time to make your summer plans!  Summer Solstice Sadhana registration is now open. Register by March 31st for the greatest discount. Registration for International Women's Camp and Khalsa Kids Yoga Camp is also open. We look forward to seeing you in New Mexico this summer.

Peace to all, light to all, and love to all.

"You don't grow old by years, you grow old by food. The bottom line is not how much you know, the bottom line is how much you eat and what you eat."
-Yogi Bhajan
At the Feet of the Master

In this lecture Yogi Bhajan talks about fasting, juicing, and cleansing mono-diets. "Balanced food is that food which can be digested without drawing on your health. It should not put a strain on the body.Food which sustains you will always give you more joy in life."

In this incredible illustration of conscious eating, Yogi Bhajan goes through - step by step - blessing, biting, chewing, swallowing. He says, "You can eat one good meal during the day like this and take about an hour. It doesn't matter what you eat - even stones - it will make you healthiest. Your life will be long and your power will be great if you taste every morsel of the food you eat."

"You have one enemy which is the greatest maya

In the habitat of these tranquil woods,

It is eating more and being overweight.

It is the test of the tongue.

It is death's bait..."

Kundalini Yoga Technology

"You see the difference you can always make. It doesn't come from outside, it comes from within you. You don't understand. There's an Earth, there's a Universe, there's a galaxy (there are 4000 galaxies). We are huge interactively-very vast and when we start doing these exercises we start sensing that system."

The buildup of wastes in the digestive tract prevents good absorption of nutrients and provides a breeding ground for bacteria and illness. This kriya works out the entire eliminative system.

Disease develops when the body gets less oxygen, eliminates less waste, and the brain, organs, and glands decrease their functioning. Eventually the system breaks down. This kriya helps to prevent that breakdown, and maintains your vital capacity as you age.

"Anyone who shall do exercise #7 for 11 minutes morning and night will have no problem with Mr. Liver."
"When you do not consciously relate to your body, your mind does not relate consciously to you."
"Whosoever will do this set will be set for life."
-Yogi Bhajan

Numerology Forecast for April 2014: Karmic Interlocks & Relationship Shifts

By Nam Hari Kaur

The number 11 appears in the Base calculation for April, and this will stir up issues of co-dependent scripts that go back to ancestral "Karmic interlocks." No relationship that does not have at least an element of this parallel unison-ness will last the year, if some effort is not made to recalibrate into a higher alignment.

Conscious Eating Guidelines

"When you swallow food that is not chewed properly, it swallows your strength, your life. Then nothing is left of you. Slow eating is one of the best meditations on this Earth. Your life will be long and your power will be great if you taste every morsel of the food you eat."

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, spring is the season of the liver. Imagine spring as a sort of "awakening" for the liver-a time when it becomes more active, working hard to clean out a winter's worth of congestion. It's a good time to give it some extra support.

Food for Thought, Food for Life

By Guru Kaur

Guru Kaur tells the amazing story of how her husband came through a nearly fatal blood sugar high while hiking and taking photos in the Himalayas: "The day before he left for this trip, he told me while we were having a cup of tea that he could only leave and go to the farthest of his possibilities because he had such a strong home to return to, adding that he had my food to come home to.

The Art of Cleansing

(with Sitali Pranayam)

By Dr. Kartar Singh

The art of cleansing means having an awareness of the entire cleansing process and its effect on your psyche. It is the capacity to have a strategic plan based on real assessment of where you are and where you want to be. Let the destination draw you through the process so you end up where you want to be.

By Sat Siri Kaur

Yogi Bhajan often gave people special diets, many of them mono-diets, as a way to assist with health issues and to heal imbalances. His mastery of the science of Ayurvedic principles was extensive. He read the aura and the entire psyche-past, present, future, karma, destiny, patterns and possibilities. His recommendations often reached beyond the physical aspects of the body to encompass mental and emotional bodies as well.

Take Karta Purkh Singh's Ayurvedic Body Type Quiz and discover your dosha and which foods and health tips will be most effective for you. "Fortunately, there is no "best" body type to be. Each has its advantages and disadvantages. Single-dosha constitutions tend to have fewer but more serious health problems. Dual-dosha types and the tri-dosha type tend to have a wider variety of less severe problems."

Sattva means purity, calmness, alertness, kindness, and compassion. Examples of sattvic foods are fruits, vegetables, and nuts. For people who live a quiet, contemplative life, a pure sattvic diet is perfect. For those who wish to maintain a meditative mind but also wish to live and work productively in the world as families and householders, a diet of primarily sattvic foods with some rajasic foods is best.
Cleanse and purify body, mind, and spirit!
Happy Spring!
